Pelepas Pasir Gudang Johor Bahru Woodlands Sentral INTERNATIONAL ENTRY POINT : RANTAU PANJANG [NORTHEAST] • Constructed: 1933 • Distance: 18.7 km • Passenger services • Was 3 services daily • Discontinued in June 1982 • Due to security reason (smuggling activities) • Cargo services • Was carrying cement from Northwest of Malaysia • Discontinued in 2003 • Due to Southern Thailand unrest • Current state: track condition deteriorating due to damage from flooding in 2007 INTERNATIONAL ENTRY POINT : JOHOR BAHRU [SOUTH] • MY-SG Rail link opened in 17th Sept 1923 • Originally end at south of Singapore in Tanjung Pagar Railway Station (TPRS) • Cargo services to feed New Harbour (aka Keppel Harbour) • MY-SG Point of Agreement(POA) [May 2010] • ended train services to Singapore • KTMB terminus relocated from TPRS to Woodlands Train Check Point (WTCP) • Effective date from 1st July 2011 • Cargo services to SG discontinued • Only passenger services remains • KTM will cease services to WTCP when Rapid Transit System between Johor Bahru & Woodlands become operational (est. December 2024) INTERNATIONAL ENTRY POINT : PADANG BESAR [NORTHWEST] • 14 tracks • Passenger: 2 tracks (electrified) • Container terminal: 5 tracks (non- electrified) • General: 7 tracks (non-electrified) • Container Terminal: • Current: 108,000 TEUs Per Annum • 1,241 TEUs Laden Container at any one time • 2 weight bridge • Container stacking: 3 layers • 4-5 daily trips to New Butterworth Container Terminal • Upgrade works: • Estimated completion: March 2018 • Cost: RM29 Millions/USD6.8 Millions PADANG BESAR CONTAINER TERMINAL UPGRADE Upgrade works: • Upgrade hardstand to accommodate 5-layer stacking • New elevated office & security post • Additional 2 weight bridge • Replace existing BS80 rail & turnout to UIC54 • Track flushing • Increase annual capacity to 132,000 TEUs Tracks for Padang Besar Container Terminal 9 Limited access road 10 SRT passenger train & Malaysia – Thailand Landbridge Service Existing Weight Bridge (1-in, 1-out) Maintenance Depoh Towards Thailand Maintenance Depot (7 bays) LANDBRIDGE SERVICE BETWEEN MALAYSIA - THAILAND (CARGO SERVICES) . introduced in year 1999 Maptaput . represents an international collaboration Bangsue between KTMB and the State Railway of Trang Suratthani Thailand (SRT) Hatyai . started with 2 weekly trains from Port Klang to Bangsue . gradually expanded to major dry and sea Penang Port ports in Malaysia and terminates at various stations and freight terminal in Thai territory. Port Klang . Shorter travelling time by rail from Port Klang – Bangsue takes 60 hours while sea transport takes 5-7 days. 15 SHUTTLE TRAIN SERVICE BETWEEN JB SENTRAL – WOODLANDS, SG . introduced on 1st July 2015 with 14 trips daily . Current frequency 26 trips daily . Distance of 1.1 km . 5-minutes journey compared to 30-60 minutes by road on Causeway . Train capacity: 320 pax . Average daily passengers: 5,900 pax . Fare: . Towards SG: MYR5. Towards MY: SGD5 . Current status: under negotiation for frequency increase to 36 trips daily 16 Cross Border Railway Arrangement INTERNATIONAL ENTRY POINT : RANTAU PANJANG [NORTHEAST] • Effective from 1st January, 1954 • Terms on: i. Joint Station (Padang Besar & Sungai Golok): • Land ownership & use; • Construction & maintenance; • Traffic management; • Joint staffing ii. Through traffic: • Safety requirement; • Priority for express train; • Ticketing iii. Rollingstock: • Hire & haulage charges; • Responsibility for damage & repairs; • Responsibility for loss of life, bodily harm & loss to goods iv. Container No. declared should be the same as stated in TLM or LTM Customs Seals. Customs Officers released Customs No.8 through system. Guarantee covers Duties and Tax. General Bond for Non24 Critical Goods. Bank Guarantee for Critical Goods Continue…..
