"Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own." Christ's Object Lessons, p. 69. But doesn't quality always cost a little more? I wish we could announce that the cost to attend Oak Park Academy for the 1975-76 school year will be less than it was last year. Inasmuch as we are living in an inflationary era, we can't do that. We can, however, do the next best thing and state that the tuition and room and board charges are the same as they were this past second semester, about $9.32 per day or $263 per month for ten months. Now, $263 per month is high. Anyway you turn it, you can't avoid Winterset that fact, and to be candid, to meet the basic needs of the school and to help balance the budget, it should be higher. However, the Vacation Oak Park Academy Board in the interest of holding down the Bible School spiraling costs, has pared faculty and curriculum down to a very basic minimum. Hundreds of public and private schools across the land have faced the same hard decisions in one form or another. Oak Park Academy, however, has some built in advantages that can greatly minimize the out-of-pocket costs for most parents. Many schools do not have the industries that serve Oak Park Academy. The Bake 'N Serve Plant has plans to use 40 - 50 students this fall. During the summer they have been shut down for heavy maintenance and modernization purposes. The academy laundry regularly uses 10 -13 students during the winter, and five or six in the summer. The press uses about eight. The broomshop uses about 15 - 20. Oak Park Manor, a privately owned Seventh-day Adventist Nursing Home, can employ 18 - 22. The cafeteria, maintenance department, janitor service, registrar and business offices will need 20 - 30. The average wage from all these sources is approximately $2.00 per hour.
