NORTH RIDGEVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION Page 278 REGULAR MEETING November 17, 2016 The North Ridgeville Board of Education met in Regular Session on November 17, 2016 at 6:01 p.m. in the North Ridgeville High School Media Center. CALL TO ORDER Pledge of Allegiance ROLL CALL The following members were present and answered to roll call: Ms. Kelly McCarthy, Ms. Marci Saxon, Ms. JoAnna Timura, and Mr. Frank Vacha. Mr. Robb Lyons was absent. FINALIZATION OF AGENDA 1. Remove Facilities construction update from Education Reports Resolution 16:11-295 APPROVAL OF MINUTES It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the video transcribed meeting minutes for October 18, 2016. Further, it is recommended that a written summary of the special and regular minutes for the meetings on October 4, 2016; October 10, 2016; October 18, 2016 and October 19, 2016 be approved. Moved by Ms. Saxon, seconded by Ms. Timura, that the Board of Education approve the above minutes. ROLL CALL: Saxon – Yes, Timura – Yes, McCarthy – Yes, Vacha – Yes. Motion carried (4-0). EDUCATION REPORTS 1. High School presentation – Mr. Tom Szendrey, Principal 2. OLD BUSINESS – DISCUSSION ITEMS (1) Update from Supplemental Committee – No update (2) Transportation Department garage – No update (3) Public tours of new facilities – Saturday, November 19 (4) Dedication plaque for new building – Communication Committee 3. COMMITTEE REPORTS FINANCE COMMITTEE Resolution 16:11-296 CHANGE ORDER FOR NORTH RIDGEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS ENERGY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – THE BREWER-GARRETT COMPANY It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a change order for the North Ridgeville City Schools Energy Improvement Project overseen by The Brewer-Garrett Company. The following changes are possible due to the bids for other energy improvements which came in lower than anticipated. These changes will not increase the original project cost. NORTH RIDGEVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION Page 280 REGULAR MEETING November 17, 2016 Light pole at Liberty $ 908.70 Control valves at Liberty $17,223.00 Cooler sensor at Lear North $ 0.00 Sensor at Liberty $ 0.00 Cooling unit – boiler room at Liberty $33,217.00 Total change orders $51,348.70 Net project savings vs budget would approximate $57,000 if the change orders above are approved. Moved by Mr. Vacha, seconded by Ms. Timura, that the Board of Education approve the Change Order overseen by The Brewer-Garrett Company as listed above. Resolution 16:11-297 CHANGE ORDER FOR THE NORTH RIDGEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS NEW 3-8 BUILDING GMP PROJECT – ICON LLC It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a change order for the North Ridgeville City Schools new 3-8 Building GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) Project overseen by ICON LLC. Football Scoreboard Steel $ 1,466.25 Football Scoreboard Logos $ 747.50 Sponsor Panel for New Scoreboard $ 5,342.52 Turf Softball Field $ 89,880.00 Softball Field (credit) for previously paid $ (13,685.38) services based on grass field costs Press Box Fire Extinguishers $ 451.61 --------------------- Net Cost $ 84,202.50 Less LFI Bid Day Savings $ -71,199.03 ----------------------- Additional Cost Associated $ 13,003.47 * Expenses associated with sponsorship contracts are expected to be refunded by sponsorship income. Moved by Ms. Timura, seconded by Ms. Saxon, that the Board of Education approve the Second Reading and Adoption of the revised Board Policy as listed above. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the Consent Agenda Resolution as presented below. Resolution 16:11-300 CONSENT AGENDA EMPLOYMENT RECOMMENDATIONS SPECIAL PROJECT STIPENDS It is recommended that the Board of Education award special project stipends to the individuals listed below: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE A stipend of $50.00 per day, as needed to cover an administrative maternity leave, not to exceed fifty (50) days, with work to be completed by February 2, 2017. Smith, Lara E. BUILDING LEADERSHIP TEAM – Maximum of eight (8) hours @ $20.00 per hour, with work to be completed by May 26, 2017. Baker, Emily Anne – High School Mehling, Rebecca Lynn – Middle School DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM – Maximum of eight (8) hours @ $20.00 per hour, with work to be completed by May 26, 2017. Kelly, Rachel Ann – Middle School SUPPLEMENTAL CONTRACTS It is recommended that the Board of Education award supplemental contracts to the individuals listed below for the 2016-2017 school year only. Gibbs, Jennifer Lee – Winter 7th & 8th Grade Cheerleader Advisor Rufener, Samuel Leon – Head JV Women’s Bowling Coach NORTH RIDGEVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION Page 283 REGULAR MEETING November 17, 2016 SUPPLEMENTAL RESOLUTION TO APPOINT NON-CERTIFIED/NON-LICENSED INDIVIDUALS TO SUPPLEMENTAL TEACHING POSITIONS It is recommended that the Board of Education adopt the supplemental resolution as presented below: WHEREAS, the North Ridgeville Board of Education strives to appoint qualified, certified/licensed employees to fulfill supplemental contracts; and WHEREAS, the Board has offered the following supplemental positions to certified/licensed employees of the District; and WHEREAS, no such employees qualified to fill the positions have accepted them; and WHEREAS, the positions were then advertised to certified/licensed individuals who are not employed by the Board; and WHEREAS, no such persons qualified to fill the positions have accepted them; and WHEREAS, the Board has deemed the following non-licensed/non-certified individuals identified below as qualified to fill the supplemental positions; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the North Ridgeville Board of Education, in compliance with O.R.C. 3313.53(D), awards the following supplemental contracts, for the 2016-2017 contract year only, to the following individuals: Bement, Joshua A. – Head Varsity Wrestling Coach Wade, Daniel S. – Head JV Wrestling Coach Mason, Jeremy Daniel – Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach Luciano, Jonathan E. – Head Freshman Wrestling Coach Palmer, Darrin – Head 7th Grade Wrestling Coach Fair, Dustan – Head 8th Grade Wrestling Coach Nelson, Brian P. – Head 7th Grade Men’s Basketball Coach. CERTIFIED SUBSTITUTES It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the Certified Substitute Teachers listed below, as needed, for substituting during the 2016-2017 school year only.
