Continue to Golubac Fortress a medieval fortified city located in the northeastern part of modern day Serbia. This fortress is situated at the very entrance of the Djerdap Gorge, which is known also as the Iron Gates. Embark on a boat expedition from Doni Milanovac a town in eastern Serbia. It is located on the right bank of Lake Derdap on the Danube. The rock sculpture of Decebalus is a 42.9 m in height and 31.6 m in width carving in rock of the face of Decebalus, the last king of Dacia, who fought against the Roman emperors Domitian and Trajan to preserve the independence of his country, which corresponded to modern Romania. The sculpture was made between 1994 and 2004, on a rocky outcrop on the river Danube, at the Iron Gates, which form the border between Romania and Serbia. It is located near the city of Orșova in Romania. It is the tallest rock relief in Europe. You will also visit the Tabula Trajana memorial plaque and the old monastery. Enjoy the unique architecture of the town which is remarkably preserved in the baroque style, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1713, when the seat of the Orthodox Metropolitan Bishop moved to Karlovci, it became the spiritual and cultural center of the Serbian people. Visit the Museum of Honey and a wine cellar to hear the interesting story of these delicious flavors. Sremski Karlovci Cellars is famous for its authentic liqueur wine, Bermet, rumored to have been enjoyed by those on the Titanic. Enjoy a wine tasting party with the cellars’ owners. After lunch we will visit the Potpeće cave located near the village of Potpeće, near the town of Užice, on the right bank of the Great Morava. The cave is near the highway, and yet hidden from hungry eyes of passers-by. It is one of five caves in Serbia that are prepared for tourist visits. The entrance to the Potpeće cave is one of the biggest in the Balkans. It is over 50 meters high and 12 meters wide at the bottom and even 22 meters wide at the top, thus making it the PAGE 3 true wonder of nature. The explored section of the cave, with paths, is 555 m long; the path leading in and out of the cave has over 700 steps. It is interesting that this cave has no name. The name “Potpeće” actually comes from the name of the nearby eponymous village that was, on the other hand, named after the cave – “the village beneath the cave”. The Potpeće cave is an erosional cave, formed by the waters of subterranean rivers which descend underground in the Drežnik valley and follow an underground course to re-emerge from the cave or from springs in front of the cave, to create two kilometers long Petnica cave river. Drvengrad is a film ethno-village in Mokra Gora. It is situated between Zlatibor and Tara and was erected on Mecavnik hill by the film director Emir Kusturica. Mecavnik rises above the village of Mokra Gora and is on the same altitude as the old railway station Jatare of the old narrow-gauge railway.
