Indigenous womxn* face extreme marginalization at the crossroads of sex, gender and race, which is tied to and intensified by the history and ongoing impact of colonialism. The result? The U.S. murder rate of Indigenous womxn is up to 10 times the national average; 1 in 3 Indigenous womxn will be sexually assaulted; and domestic violence rates are 7 times higher for Indigenous womxn. Come learn more about the health inequities faced by Indigenous womxn in particular, and how sexism is a key health equity issue overall. Taté Walker Taté Walker is Lakota and a citizen of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of Multimedia Storyteller, South Dakota.
