These processions have been taking place throughout Spain for centuries, and look much the same as they did hundreds of years ago. Las Fallas Throughout several nights in mid-March, the streets of Valencia come alive with giant paper sculptures, painstakingly handcrafted in ornate detail. The first documented Las Fallas celebration took place in 1784, and each year it's grown bigger and better than ever.
