Laura Thompson, members of her staff, and members for the Dorothy Chandler staff walked through the timing of our Event from the Wine Reception to Dancing the Night Away. I was immediately impressed by the condition of the Pavilion and what a great venue for our Centennial Soiree it will be. The Pavilion has been maintained in top condition and belies its age. The location will be perfect for our visitors staying in the downtown hotels, and as a memory of the splendor of Los Angeles. The Wine Reception will be held on the West Wing of the Main Floor, a spacious area enlightened by many enormous chandeliers. The wine tasting will feature donated samplings from Michael Mondavi's firm, Folio, one of Oregon's premier pinot vineyards, Stoller, LA5 member Lee Black and his Black Family Winery and others. At the dinner hour we will be lead up the Grand Staircase to the large balcony that overlooks the fountain plaza through enormous windows. There will be two large screens to view the videos that each of the Centennial Clubs are producing for the Event. And following the dinner and the entertainment arranged by Laura, we will dance the night away with the band, Art Deco, well known to the staff of the Pavilion as high quality. In our communications with the other Centennial Clubs, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Tacoma and Portland, there is a very real sense of excitement and anticipation for the Soiree. San Francisco has signed up 80 people to attend. Seattle has every Convention attendee from their Club also attending the Soiree. Portland is considering, even though they know the dress is business attire, to wear their tuxedos, as they consider this an extraordinarily special occasion. Indeed, it will be that. I not only encourage you to attend in support of our Club, but urge our thanks to our LA5 Member Laura Thompson who is creating this historic Event on a pro-bono basis.
