For example on Sunday, rain is expected across most of the state, with 50 to 100mm possible in the northeast and 30 to 50mm for the remainder of the east and the western tiers (See attached picture). It is likely that an initial flood watch will be issued on Friday. Minor to moderate flooding may occur in the South Esk, North Esk, Macquarie and Meander rivers from early Sunday onwards. There is still a lot of uncertainty about how much and where the rainfall will occur, so please keep this information for internal usage only until Bureau issues warnings and watches. Please check latest rainfall forecasts (http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsP), rainfall and river observations (http://www.bom.gov.au/tas/flood/) and warnings (http://www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/) from our website. You can also use MetEye (http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/) to check on expected winds, temperatures and rainfall totals for the next few days. INITIAL FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL NORTHERN AND EASTERN RIVER BASINS Issued at 11 :57 am EST on Friday 3 JuneRTI-DL-RELEASE-DPIPWE 2016 By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart. A flood watch has been issued for all northern and eastern river basins. A trough over eastern Australia will approach Tasmania on Saturday, extending over the State on Sunday and into Monday. Catchments in the north are saturated after significant rainfall in May and river rises are expected. Flash flooding of small creeks and low lying areas may occur in locations that receive heavy rainfall on Sunday. Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. I understand this is the polling rate required. The only site that does not fit this regime is the South Esk @ upper Esk which is on a satellite system and can't be polled at the 2 hourly frequency.
