The GC32 is a foiling catamaran, meaning that the hulls soar above – rather than through – the water at huge speeds: in fact, a GC32 has been recorded at 39.2 knots. Such technology is, typically, only available to America’s Cup competitors. The GC32 is, effectively, a scaled-down version of the foiling America’s Cup catamarans that raced around San Francisco Bay but – critically – it is much easier to sail and to run and it is also a whole lot cheaper! Specifications Hull Length: 32f / 10m Width of Hull: 6m Weight: 955kg Mast high: 16.5m Max Sail Area: 170m2 Crew: 5 Max speed: 39knts GC32 Racing Tour 2016 The GC32 Racing Tour is able to bring this cutting-edge, ultra-exciting racing to new audiences across the world. It’s also racing that takes place on a level playing field, with the one-design principle absolutely central to the competition’s ethos. The 2016 Tour will see a series of four-day events at venues across Europe. Where possible, racing will take place close to the shore to give spectators the best possible view of these flying machines. > 26 au 29 mai: Riva del Garda > 7 au 10 juillet: Malcesine > 3 au 6 août: Palma de Majorque > 22 au 25 sept.: Lisbonne > 13 au 16 mai: Marseille Team Palmares No races has been sailed yet 4 SUI 22 OcialOcial Partner Partner 5 Flying Phantom (2 boats) NEW in 2016 The Flying PHANTOM is a new generation of foiling catamarans. The concept is based on design work Martin Fischer has done over the past years on foils and the expertise of Franck Cammas and Groupama Sailing Team. After an extensive of different foils and rudders configurations, they came up with a combination of “L” shaped foils and “T” shaped rudders, providing pitch and heave stability in full flight but also being competitive in light winds. The carbon / epoxy hulls in combination with a carbon mast built in an autoclave result in significant weight reduction, the increased total beam improves the stability while foiling and a longer mast provides additional power. The foiling cat is the future of our sport and offer new sensations and previously unknown performance levels. The concept was to bring the sailing to the public and not the other way round. The origins of the Extreme 40 are the Olympic Class Catamaran, the Tornado – essentially the Extreme 40 is a scaled-up version of the Tornado, it is just twice as big and incredibly fast. The X40 is a simple easy to sail, light weight, full carbon fibre weapon. The boat will fit inside a normal 40ft shipping container. The Extreme 40 is the new generation of mid size sports catamarans sure to set the standard for exciting inshore sailing.
