Page 107 22 3 Knox pic It was a great year for Bucks cricket, with a much improved team display, highlighted by a number of outstanding individual Use from 2011 performances. Bucks won four of their six matches in the Unicorns Counties Championship, which in previous years would have won the Knox pic Eastern Division title, but we had to settle for fourth place in a tight race. Use from 2011 Michael Payne, in his first year after stepping down as captain, enjoyed an historic season, becoming the first Bucks batsman ever to score centuries in three successive Championship matches. Garry Park scored the county's fastest ever century in terms of balls faced with his spectacular 100 not out from 50 balls against Staffordshire, while leg-spinner Stephen Croft took a remarkable 8-33 on his Championship debut against Hertfordshire. All this made it a memorable first season as captain for Tom Hampton, who led by example both on and off the field. It was a successful season, too, for the Academy side, who completed the Beynon Cup and Tom Orford Trophy double, while the boys' Under 17 team triumphed in their two-day competition. Bucks women's and girls' teams continue to improve, while the increase in seniors' cricket has led to a restructuring of the organisation of the Over 50s, Over 60s and Over 70s teams. In his report, Bucks's longest-serving secretary Kevin Beaumont outlines the structural changes to Minor Counties Cricket from 2020, with more emphasis on the shorter formats. We are most grateful to Andy Bone, from Sports Shots, for providing a number of pictures free of charge to the county this year, while Kevin Beaumont and the Bucks Board's managing director Richard Hudson have also kindly provided photographs for this publication. Bill Scholes, who is leaving the area, also deserves a mention for his great work behind the scenes over the past ten seasons. My thanks also to Frank Russell for his considerable help in publishing this handbook and also his work in running the website. We look forward to the 2019 season with considerable optimism.
