I've created a list of Catholic saints that we will study over the coming months, and will be slowly creating Saints Study Packets for each one. I'd love to offer these Catholic homeschooling resources to you, to help you teach your children and build your domestic church. It's also a way to say thank you, for being a loyal reader! His parents were Roman citizens, living in Britain. When Patrick was 14, he was kidnapped and sold into slavery in Ireland, serving as a shepherd. While he was held captive, he learned the language and practices of his Druid captors. y At age 20, he escaped and headed to the coast. There, he found sailors who took him back to Britain. He began studying for the priesthood, became a Bishop, and returned to Ireland to preach the Gospel. y He preached and converted thousands in Ireland with his disciples, building churches all over the country. He served there for 40 years, dying on March 17, 461. y Saint Patrick’s Day is a solemn and holy day of obligation in Ireland, and is a celebration of Ireland itself. In the United States, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated primarily as a cultural holiday, owing in part to the large Irish immigrant community here. ©2014 The Kennedy Adventures All Rights Reserved 4 y y Feast Day: Patron of: Date of Birth: Date of Death: Lived in: ©2014 The Kennedy Adventures All Rights Reserved 5 Interesting Fact 1: © Sicarr / Wikimedia Commons / cc-by-3.0 Interesting Fact 2: Interesting Fact 3: ©2014 The Kennedy Adventures All Rights Reserved 6 Use your resources to define the following words: patron: shamrock: Emerald Isle: Druids: missionary: Dublin: ©2014 The Kennedy Adventures All Rights Reserved 7 What happened to St. Patrick when he was a teenager?
