A New Era For Griffon Soccer 1 IT’S A GREAT TIME With new athletics facilities, aca- demic buildings and residence halls, enrollment at an all-time high and the presence of the Kansas City Chiefs Summer Training Camp, now more than ever “It’s Great Time To Be A Griffon!” Above: The Griffon Indoor Sports Complex was dedicated in July 2010. The building is the headquarters of Griffon Football and also serves as the summer home of the Kansas City Chiefs. This state-of-the- art facility which houses the endeavors of the science and mathematics departments was built with a $5,000,000 gift from St. Joseph residents Wes & Patsy Remington. The gift is the largest in University history. Right: Dreams became reality for the Griffon Softball and Baseball teams as the Griffon Spring Sports Complex was dedicated in April 2011. The complex which is located on the northeast side of campus features ample seating, state- of-the-art press facilities, scoreboards, surround sound, ample parking and professional style dugouts. It was the first time in the 41 year history of the program that baseball was played on campus. Above: With enrollment at an all-time and the demand for on-campus housing higher than ever, ground broke in late summer 2010 on Griffon Hall which will be located to the south of Scanlon Hall. Griffon Hall will feature 250 beds in apartment style units. Each apartment will have kitchen facilities and four private bedrooms. The hall will also feature a workout room and a community lounge. The doors to Griffon Hall are scheduled to open in Fall 2011. Left: Griffon student-athletes performed over 1,100 hours of community service last year at over 40 agencies in the local region.
