Articles in the journal reflect the views of the respective authors only. 2 Notes for Contributors Assonance is a multilingual blind peer reviewed annual publication of the Department of Russian & Comparative literature, University of Calicut. Assonance, as a rule, publishes only original and unpublished research articles in English, Russian, Hindi and Malayalam. Its primary focus areas are Russian Language, Russian Literature, Russian Culture, Comparative Literature and Translation Studies. All contributions to the journal to be submitted in M.S. Word to the Editor, Assonance, Department of Russian & Comparative Literature, University of Calicut, Kerala – 673635, India by 31st July. Email: [email protected] Style: 1. Title of the text: Times New Roman, Bold face, Heading 14 size font, Central alignment, single spacing. 2. Author's info: Soon after the title (Times New Roman, Normal 10 size font, central alignment). 3. Abstract (in less than 150 words) of the article and keywords to be provided at the beginning of the text (after Title and author’s info) in italics. For articles in written in Russian, Hindi and Malayalam, title, abstract and keywords to be provided in English as well. 4. The text: Times New Roman, Normal 12 size font, justified alignment, single spacing, with 6-point space between paragraphs. Words, phrases, citations from other languages (than English and Russian) to be transcribed/ translated into English/ Russian. Text size not to be less than 1500 words, and more than 5000 words. 5. Textual references: Textual references to be provided in MLA format. Footnotes and endnotes to be strictly avoided. 6. Bibliography: A list of the cited works / further reading to be provided at the end of the text in MLA format. Submissions not following the prescribed style and received after the deadline shall be summarily rejected. Schedule of publication: Receipt of articles: on or before 31st July Intimation of acceptance: on or before 30th November Publication & release of the journal: on or before 10th January 3 Publication Policy: Articles for each issue are received till 31st July. Once received, all the articles are checked for similarity index with the help of online tools. Articles having more than twenty percent of similarity index are invariably rejected. Articles having less than twenty percent of similarity index are forwarded to one of the referees for blind review. Only those articles which are recommended by the referees are accepted for publication. The journal does not charge any submission fee/ publication fee from the contributors. This issue has included a wide range of articles dealing with various aspects of comparative literature. It has articles dealing with the image of mother in the works of Rasputin, Abramov, Astafyev and Belov; image of daughter in Viktoriya Takareva’s Marina; image of Napoleon in Russian literature; childhood in post war Russian literature. It has included articles dealing with documentary genre in Russian literature, life and death in the philosophical poems of Zabolotsky. An interesting article dealing with intertextuality in the poems of Anna Akhmatova has also included in this issue. Article dealing with contrastive grammatical study, reception of October revolution, stories of Chandramathi, comparative study of Malayalam and Russian Travelogues, Russian science fiction, Russian Byt literature and a comparative study of Gogol and Basheer are also included. Articles relating to Indian philosophy, cultural studies, gender, language etc., shows the multidisciplinary nature of our journal.We hope that all these articles will be interesting and useful for our readers. While we are grateful to each of the authors who have contributed their valuable research articles for this issue, we appreciate the timely input provided by the Board of Referees with respect to quality of the articles being received for publication in this issue. Главным действующим лицом в их произведениях является русская деревенская женщина.
