FIRST-RATE ACADEMICS The University of Dayton is ranked as a top-tier national university and one of the best Catholic universities in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” issue. The University of Dayton is ranked at 115 in a five-way tie. The magazine also listed the University of Dayton among its “A+ Schools for B Students.” This is the third year in a row the University of Dayton made this list of schools the magazine says deserve a closer look. In other recent rankings, The Princeton Review’s 2013 edition of The Best 377 Colleges lists the University of Dayton as one of the top institutions for undergraduate education in the country, noting that UD takes the Marianist values of “intense education, strong community and deep faithfulness and wraps (them) into a fun place to be.” The University of Dayton ranked 10th in the nation in the category, “Their Students Love These Colleges, and in the top 20 (16th) for “Happiest Students.” The University of Dayton also is recognized nationally for its innovative programs for student entrepreneurs. The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine have ranked the entrepreneurship program as one of the top-20 programs in the nation the past seven years. Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of legal writing programs listed the University of Dayton School of Law 21st in the nation. 4 - 2013 -14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON PUBLICATIONS DEPARTMENT. 2013-14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON WOMEN’S ROWING SECTION NAME OUR ACADEMIC SUCCESS PROGRESS IN THE CLASSROOM The University of Dayton rowing team received the 2012 Academic Progress Rate (APR) public recognition award for the sixth consectuive year. Each year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Divi- sion I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR. The score measures eligibility and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear pic- ture of the academic culture in each sport. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports. McGlade Freshmen are eligible to receive the award. 6 - 2013 -14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON PUBLICATIONS DEPARTMENT. 2013-14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON WOMEN’S ROWING SECTION NAME SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS SADIE WONDERS AWARDED 2013 POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP BY ATLANTIC 10 Wonders was a senior rower for the University of Dayton women’s rowing team and a leader for the Flyers for four seasons. Named UD’s White Allen Most Valuable Rower in 2012-13, the Bronson, Mich. native was a two-time All-Academic honoree for the Atlantic 10 and a stalwart for the Dayton squad. She has been a four-time A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll member, a four-time Dean’s List student, and the recipient of a Dayton Scholar-Athlete Award all four years at Dayton. As a freshman, Wonders was named the Most Outstanding Novice for the Flyers. She received $5,000 to contribute to her graduate education. Wonders performed with distinction both in the classroom and in their respective sports throughout her career, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community. 8 - 2013 -14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON PUBLICATIONS DEPARTMENT. 2013-14 UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON WOMEN’S ROWING SECTION NAME A FLYER LEGEND Bernadette Marten Teeley ROAD TO SUCCESS Bernadette Marten Teeley came to the University of Dayton on an academic scholarship, and was introduced to rowing her freshman year, a moment that changed the rest of her life. The Fortville, Ind. native chose UD because it was a top-tier Catholic university in the Midwest, and it didn’t hurt that both her parents were Dayton alums. The Flyer rowing program made an impact on Marten Teeley that resounds with her still to this day. She married Brendan
