As graduating seniors you, too, must meet the challenge of society. In your quest for success remember that every man, by consenting with others to form a government, puts himself under an obligation to everyone in that society to submit to the determination of the feeling of the majority. This principle was first and foremost in the keen minds of the framers of the Declaration of Independence. Our desire is that each of you experience life in its fullest, and our best wishes go with you. Academic Challenge teams have consistently brought honors to John Marshall. In 1973, Ann Cibula, John Heilman, and Robert Kessler reached the quarter final round. In doing so, they not only brought acclaim to the school, but also won a prize of books and a trophy for JMH. The 1974 team looks forward to even greater success. Descriptive Chemistry is treated either as an out-growth of these concepts or as the point of entry. Physics experiments utilize such up to date equipment as air tables, Polaroid cameras, strobe light and photoelectric counters. Physics is a quatitative study of physical phenomena such as forces, energy and atomic structure. Experiments, movies, and film loops are used quite extensively. Language John Marshall is very fortunate in having an outstanding and large foreign language department offering French, Spanish and German. To supplement regular classroom instruction, students may use a language laboratory where occasionally classes meet and listen to exercises which correspond to their textbooks.
