From the Champions perspective, the results couldn‟t be much better. The 3 pitchers have a COMBINED 0.49 ERA after 37 innings pitched with the only blemish being a Jerry Reuss 1-0 loss. Meanwhile , Dave Stapleton, Randolph‟s Rincon 2-0, 0.56 ERA replacement at 2nd base is batting a stellar.265 avg with 2 Reuss, 1-1, 0.47 ERA Minor league file photo doubles AND 2 triples. The Champions have won 4 games since the trade and appear poised to make a run at a playoff spot. How have the Swallows faired since THE DEAL, you might be asking? They are the only team to win more games than the Champions last week as they pocketed 5 wins to move themselves into sole possession of 2nd place in the standings. Randolph has batted .308 (up from .261) with a pair of doubles and stolen bases. McGregor hasn‟t performed as well, going 0-2 with a 6.94 ERA., and Vuckovich has not seen any action yet. It‟s a stunning turnaround since their 19-5 start. If they continue to lose at this pace, they will end with a 27-29 record and fighting for their playoff survival. Speaking of losers, Muff City has gone 3-6 this week, Ellicottville 2-2, and Lickmyville was in at 2-2. On a positive note for the Big Nut‟s, they had a record 11 game win streak broken up by Championville. The have gone 14-3 with the only 3 losses coming at the hand‟s of Championville (might this be an omen that the Champions are surging at the right time?). The only other teams that finished the week with winning records were the Bad Dawg‟s, in at 3-1, and the Wieners at 3-2. However, the Bad Dawg‟s were the beneficiary of playing the sliding, wallowing Pigs, while the Wieners played lowly Muff City.
