(not just for members) Seniors Day at the AL National Fair is Thursday, October 10, 2019 and the Archibald Center is going! Join Traci Herndon and Betty Taylor in carpooling to the fair! Cost to the Archibald Center is only $1 per person for parking. Your admission to the fair is $1 per person with a canned food item ($12 without a canned good). FREE BINGO with prizes (ages 55+) will be played at 9:30 and 11:30 am. Lunch is on your own. We will depart from the Archibald Center at 8:30 am and return at 1:30 pm. We will take the first 8 people who sign up. On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the Archibald Center will be headed to Ozark, AL for a guided tour the JD Holman House. The Holman House is a neoclassical residence built in Ozark, Al during 1912-1913. The Holman House was designed by Mr. C. Frank Galliher, a prominent regional architect from Montgomery. The home consists of two main floors of approximately 10,000 square feet, including a basement of approximately 5,000 square feet (stairs are used to enter the second floor). Cost is $30 per person which includes transportation. Lunch is on your own at the Hoppergrass, a local cafeteria-style restaurant offering good country food at reasonable prices. We will depart from The Fresh Market at 8 am and return to Montgomery around 4 pm. Deadline to sign up is September 26, 2019. We the People: Alabama’s Defining Documents will feature all six of Alabama’s constitutions along with the 1861 ordinance of secession, which declared Alabama’s separation from the Union on the eve of the Civil War. We the People will be the first public display of these historic records since returning from their conservation, and the first time they have been displayed together. This exhibition is part of a statewide celebration of Alabama’s bicentennial in 2019. The Archibald Center will meet at the AL Department of Archives on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 10:45 am for a guided tour of this exhibit. Afterwards, we will enjoy a box lunch (drink included) for $10 per person (this is optional; you can choose to leave after the tour or bring your own lunch). Ham, Turkey, or Veggie box lunch selections can be chosen when you sign up. Deadline to sign up is November 7th. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE - EXTENDED! The Archibald Center is having a Membership Drive!
