I am requesting that you advise me of any new concerts/events for the new issue going out at the end of this month - to be issued 1 st of Sept e mber 2018. Thanks. I have included some details from summer series in particular the Lakes Summer Music Festival from the 28 th of July to the 10 th of August ; also, Kendal Mid - Day Concert Club. Basic information for the Keldwith Awards are shown for preliminary and finals. I would like to thank all the chairmen, secretaries and publicity officers , who contribute to the content of the B.a.c.l. and ma k e it a success, as reports back from the groups indica te . I am looking for some volunteer choir /orchestras’, for the “Spotlight” if the secretaries or publicity officer s would take notice especially if you r organization has n’t appeared in these page s before . I have included at the end of this issue of “Spotlight”, the organizations agreeing to be included late r this year – the first time ever! If you have any events, or, special concerts that you might like to have highlighted, then you know where I am. We sing a wide range of music, religious and secular, ancient and modern, and normally hold 3 concerts a year; our Spring concert is usually a substantial work with professional soloists and orchestral accompaniment. We believe in Confirm ed Dates for 201 8 /9 encouraging young musicians and young singers and have collaborated with several youth groups in re cent years. We also take part in the biennial Mary Wakefield Festival. A review of this concert said, “The choir was Brahms. superb, as if singing for their very lives: excellent diction of t he Latin text, disciplined phrasing and holding the moment between sections quite beautifully. Quiet moments built up to powerful and very moving crescendos.” Our 02.08.18 LDSM 12:00 Noon Kirby Lonsdale Parish Church major work for this year is St Matthew Passion by J . S . The history of Eversley Choir goes back to the year 1900 when a number of smaller village choirs were amalgamated in order to compete more effectively in what later became the MaryWakefield Festival. Bowness Wakefield's sister, Agnes, who was married to Tom Argles and who lived in a large house in Leasgill called 'Eversley'.
