The technique of <strong>trapping </strong>in Football is when a player makes contact with a ball in motion and minimizes or negates the motion of the ball so that the player has complete control of the ball. </p><p><strong>5</strong><br><strong>(d) Basic&nbsp;equipment used by referee : </strong></p><p><strong>(i) Whistle&nbsp;: </strong>The referee blows his whistle to start play, stop or delay play due to a foul or injury and also to end each half of the game. <br><strong>(ii) Timepiece&nbsp;: </strong>Referees need at least one timepiece – a wrist watch and stopwatch in-order to monitor the game time. </p><p><strong>(iii) Earpiece&nbsp;and radio set : </strong>In all top-flight matches, referees and their assistants communicate by using a </p><p>small radio set, a transmitter; it is a compact radio that is strapped to the referee’s waist. </p><p><strong>(iv) Cards&nbsp;and notebook : </strong>The referee may decide to penalize players by issuing red cards or yellow cards </p><p>depend on the gravity of the offense made.
