Chardonnay is one of the more easily grown grapes and given that, it finds itself planted in just about every grape growing region. The birthplace of Chardonnay is in Burgundy, France. Here the grape can be full of minerality and crisp with all sorts of intensity or rich and complex with layered nuances. In California the style of wine making tends to favor an oak influence making the wines big and luscious. Move to regions such as Australia and we see no oak, here the wines are light and crisp. 150. SAUVIGNON BLANC Sauvignon Blanc has become an increasingly popular varietal. From its origins in France in Bordeaux and Loire, it’s growth in California, to its explosion of success in New Zealand, this grape has been a staple of the wine world. The wines are lean and grassy in France, more floral and delicate in California and full of racy acidity in New Zealand and Chile. These wines are amazing with almost any cuisine especially seafood. 130. ROBERT MONDAVI, Reserve Fume Blanc, Napa, CA ’07 110 131. GRGICH HILLS, “Fume Blanc”, Napa, CA `09 66 132. Pinot Grigio with it’s “go with everything” ability sees tremendous popularity. Wines such as Viognier with it’s intense apricot and peach flavor and bright acidity work so well with the trends of today’s cuisine. Riesling from Germany and Australia are all so perfect with so many different dishes. This is a selection which will continue to expand and become more import in our world. 140. Shiraz from Australia with all of the pepper and spice is always popular. The Rhone where Syrah, Grenache, and Mouvedre rule has boundless variety from fruity to concentrated and tannic, another big steak wine region. Malbec from Argentina has burst onto the scene rivaling cabernet as a wine of choice for many. 210. TWO HANDS ANGEL SHARE, Shiraz , Australia, ’08 94 211. GRAFFIGNA, Malbec , Argentina 08 34 RED ZINFANDEL Zinfandel is one of California’s signature grapes. These wines are rich and full of fruit and all sorts of intensity. Charaterized by it’s ripe fruit and high potential alchohol, these wines need big food to stand up to their big taste. Nothing is more of a pleaser to the palate than a jammy Red Zinfandel and a thick rib eye. 230. NEYERS “Pato Vineyard”, Contra Costa, CA ’06 72 231. HERITAGE “Dry Creek Vineyard”, Sonoma, CA ’07 43 PINOT NOIR Pinot Noir like chardonnay has it’s origins in Burgundy, France. This is a wine of purity and delicacy that can be nearly breathtaking. The grape is very difficult to grow requiring a specific set of conditions in a more narrow of climate ranges. If the conditions are not just right the grapes never ripen fully and are somewhat less than interesting. Balanced between strawberry and cherry notes to the heavier styles seeming almost plum like in the nose the wines made from Pinot Noir are complex and diverse. We have made our Pinot Noir selection one that we feel best represents the grape and offer a wonderful experience for our guests. 240. DOMAINE SERENE “Evenstad”, Willamette Valley, OR 07 114. 241. B R COHN, Russian River, CA ’06 105 242. SOKOL BLOSSER, Dundee Hills, WA ’07 98 243. CHARLES KRUG, Carneros, CA ’08 75 244. DUTTON GOLDFIELD “Dutton Ranch”, Russian River, CA ’08 73 245. JACUZZI Pinot ,NOIR ,Sonoma 2009 45 MERLOT Just like cabernet sauvignon, Merlot is also one of the world’s most recognizable grape varieties. As another base grape for Bordeaux the varietal became a wine of legendary status. Since the infamous rant of Miles in “Sideways” fewer people are consuming this once most popular of wines. Of course, the wine that he drank at the end of the movie was 100% Merlot. Merlot can be soft and unassuming with warm fruit and pleasant flavors, Merlot is a work horse grape in that it works so well with so many different foods. 65 263. SWANSON, Napa, CA ’04 59 264.
