The existing railway line Recommended total eligible that crosses the Alps is dominated by tight radiuses and steep gradients. The €191 930 423 costs: works foresee the excavation of the 32.9 km long Koralm Tunnel, as the centre Recommended funding: €57 579 127 piece of this new line, as well as shorter tunnels to consistently establish a physical rail infrastructure in the Alpine crossings that meets modern European Recommended EU support: 30.00% standards and is intended primarily to enable the operation of high-performance rail services. Evaluation Remarks The proposed Action in its reduced scope is very relevant. It has a high European added-value as it aims to remove an existing bottleneck on a pre-identified section of a Core Network Corridor. The Action is highly mature. All activities submitted in the application have received necessary approvals, including the Environmental Impact Assessment. The Action will have a very good impact; it is indispensable for fast, frequent, high quality services connecting several Member States. The quality is very good..
