The current annual report describes more than twenty programms directly responds to the exhortation of Pope, undertaken by the organization during the initial period up to April 2016 and it is laudable. It is seen also that under TSSS many training programmes are conducted for the benefit of the stakeholders in different sectors. The women empowerment programme and the special focus on Fish vending women and their related issues are very vivid in the year under reference. The Self Help Groups have managed to obtain bank loans making an all time record of more than 7.8 million rupees. It is also well used and the repayment is monitored. All the actives of Save a Family plan, the Child line activates and Agricultural based activities also mark clear progress during the current year. Worth mention is the “House a Gift” programme by which the basic need of a house of all the homeless families is addressed. The first handing over of keys of 13 houses was the first fruit of this great work. The Captain of the team, Fr. Lenin Raj is to be applauded and the Archdiocese acknowledges his service. I also add a word of thanks to all the collaborators both of the country and abroad, of this great movement in the way of attaining the vision of the Society. Msgr. Eugine H. With immense pleasure I am presenting the Annual Report of Trivandrum Social Service Society for the year 2015 -2016, which is the 4th report during my tenure. It is a church based Ministry of Social Action on the one hand and at the same time a NGO doing social services to the society devoid of religious discrimination. Empowerment of women aims at awareness of their rights, improved standard of living, participation in decision making process, increased participation in economic, social, educational and commercial sectors through achieving self confidence and thereby standing in their own feet’s. (“Where women are honored, divinity blossoms there” (Manusmrithi)) Now there are 1851 SHGs, each consisting 15 to 20 members, out of which 49 are newly formed in the year 2015-2016. Central level meetings of SHG Animators are conducted on every first Friday of the month. The Animators present the report of each region for evaluation. The activities for the succeeding month are also discussed and planed in their meeting. Apart from this meetings are held at the village and regional level. General body meetings at central level are conducted on half yearly basis when reports from all the eight regions are presented and evaluated.
