As you enjoy the last few weeks of summer, I ask that you take a moment to look at the NNHS calendar, the # rst day of school schedule, the letter from your housemaster, and all the other important information included within these pages. As I hope you know, Newton North is a special place because of our talented and dedicated students, par- ents and faculty. Please help us continue our strong tradition of excellence by getting involved in our school through avenues such as our Fine and Performing Arts program, our Athletics program, our clubs, our student government, our PTSO, and all of our amazing activities. Each year, we challenge our students to leave New- ton North a little bit better than they found it, and getting involved is a great way to make your mark on our school. I want to remind all families that our PTSO works hard every year to provide a detailed student directory. I ask that you take a moment to review your information, so you can be assured that you will be included in this directory. Please also remember that we no longer mail anything home, as we rely heavily on electronic communication through Parent Connect. ! e log-in instructions for Parent Connect is included in this booklet. Please take a moment to log on and check your contact information. If you do not have computer access or have any prob- lems, please contact your house o" ce. Mark your calendars now for Back-to-School Night on September 24th and check out the North calendar in the booklet for our grade-level nights and parent-teacher conferences. Our all school summer reading this year is Talent Is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers From Everyone Else, by Geo$ Colvin. ! e book examines the extent to which people’s natural ability, e$ ort, and precise practice impact their success. It will continue our conversations about, and the practice of, Carol Dweck’s “Growth Mindset.” During the # rst semester, ! e Fine and Performing Arts Department will facilitate sta$ and students in activities that further explore the ideas presented in the book. I look forward to welcoming everyone back on September 8th. Sincerely, Mark Aronson Interim Principal 3 Opening Week For Students NNHS Schedule Sept. 8-11, 2015 4 Important Locations IMPORTANT LOCATIONS HOUSE OFFICES: DEPARTMENTS: Adams – 1st Floor, 135 Athletics/P.E.H.W. – 2nd Floor, 208 Barry – 2nd Floor, 220 Career &.
