March 28-30, 2013 IU Natatorium Swimmers Jared Anderson, Max Cartwright, Josh Hall, Logan Redondo, CJ Smith and Derek Indianapolis, Ind. Toomey, and divers Mikey Ross and Jordan Lesser, will represent the Gophers at the event co-hosted by the Indiana Sports Corporation and IUPUI. Daily Schedule Prelims: 10:00 a.m. CT Toomey will be making his third-straight appearance at the NCAA Championships as a six-time Finals: 6:00 p.m. CT All-American, and qualified to compete in both the 50 free and 100 free this season with his times of 19.11 and 42.60, respectively. Smith will also be making a return appearance to the NCAAs. The sophomore qualified for the Quick Facts event this season with his time of 14:54.21 in the 1650 free, after earning All-America honorable University Information mention honors in the same event a season ago. Redondo qualified for his first NCAA Championships in the 1650 free with his time of 14:58.88, Founded: 1851 while Anderson, Cartwright and Hall will each get their first taste of NCAA action in the 100 Enrollment: 52,557 breast. Cartwright qualified with his time of 53.17, Hall posted a time of 53.19 and Anderson Nickname: Golden Gophers notched a qualifying time of 53.24. Colors: Maroon and Gold Conference: Big Ten Both Ross and Lesser made the NCAA roster following their performances at the NCAA Zone University President: Eric W Kaler D Diving Championships. Assistant Coach: Ryan Purdy (Minnesota-Duluth, ‘05) Volunteer Swimming Coach: Stacy Busack The Natatorium opened in 1982 and has since been recognized as one of the fastest pools in Volunteer Diving Coach: Brandon Blaisdell the world. It has been host to numerous national swimming events including the three U.S. Opens, five Olympic Trials, ten Men’s and Women’s NCAA Championships and 11 Spring and Team Information Summer Nationals. 2012-13 Dual Record: 6-1 2013 Big Ten Championships: 4th place (378 points) The main competition pool is 50-meters with eight racing lanes and two moveable bulkheads 2012 NCAA Championships: 24th place (31 points) to allow for long or short course events. The Big Ten Well Represented in the National Poll Minnesota is ranked the No. 14 team in the nation by the College Swimming Coaches' Associ- ation of America poll. The final CSCAA poll of the 2012-2013 season for Division I Men predicts the outcome of the NCAA Championships. Texas holds the No. 1 spot followed by California, Michigan, USC and Florida in Order of Events the top five. At No. 14, the Gophers are the fourth Big Ten team after No. 3 Michigan, No. 8 Indiana and No. 13 Ohio State in the top rankings. The Big Ten’s Michigan and Ohio State share the lead with 11 national championships 50 Freestyle 400 Medley Relay each, while Texas has 10, most recently in 2010. One-meter Diving—Trials* FINALS – 6:00 p.m. Last Year at NCAAs 200 Freestyle Relay In the 2012 season Minnesota sent eight men to the NCAA Championships, coming home with a 24th place finish and 15 500 Freestyle 200 Individual Medley All-American accolades.
