Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni Bill Baroni was appointed to the role of Deputy Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in March 2010 by Governor Christie. In his role, Bill is responsible for managing the Port Authority’s various transportation assets including five airports, six Hudson River crossings, the PATH transit system and the largest seaport on the East Coast. Additionally, he is deeply engaged in the Port Authority’s mission to rebuild the World Trade Center site that was destroyed during the attacks of September 11, 2001. Bill Baroni works every day to ensure that the New Jersey/New York region remains a powerful engine to create jobs, drive economic activity and keep people and goods moving efficiently and safely. Prior to assuming his Port Authority post, Mr. Baroni represented portions of Mercer and Middlesex Counties as a New Jersey State Senator. He began his legislative career in the New Jersey Assembly, winning his first term in 2003 and re-election in 2005. He served on the New Jersey Citizens’ Clean Elections Commission and was a member of the Assembly Education and Higher Education committees and the Joint Committee on the Public Schools. While serving as a legislator, the Aspen Institute selected Mr. Baroni for its public leadership fellowship program. Mr. Baroni is also currently an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University Law School where he teaches Professional Responsibility along with Election Law, Education Law, and Legislation. He was named “Adjunct Professor of the Year” in 2004 and 2011 and received the Congressman Peter W. Rodino Award in 2007. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Baroni is committed to his community. Mr. Baroni served as Chairman of the Board of Mercer County Community College, which serves more than 13,000 students, and he has also held positions on the Hamilton Township Planning Board and the foundation boards of The College of New Jersey, the Hamilton YMCA, the Greater Trenton Symphony Orchestra, La Boheme Opera and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He also served on the Board of Directors for Visitation Home, a shared residence for New Jersey residents with developmental disabilities. Mr. Baroni holds a bachelor of arts from George Washington University, where he majored in history and graduated magna cum laude with special honors. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. .
