Kanda-awajicho and its surroundings used to flourish as an essential town for city transportation when Manseibashi station existed. The town, however, gradually lost its vigor due to a decrease in population. To restore what made this town attractive, we planned the town’s development with those who have continuously loved this area. The development of WATERRAS and Sola City brought in a lot of offices, residences, retail facilities and community facilities, giving the impression that the town is highly modernized. Now, Kanda-awajicho has been transformed into WATERRAS, the new symbol of the town an attractive place for office workers, residents and even people coming from other towns. WATERRAS is a “water” and “green” themed, large-scale redevelopment project, located in the abundant nature, history and culture of Kanda-awajicho. It has two buildings : WATERRAS TOWER, the height of which is 165 meters and WATERRAS ANNEX, composed of commercial facilities and student rental residences, gardens and parks. Seasonal flowers and trees surround the two buildings in approximately 22,000 square meters of land; a pedestrian access from the nearest station prevents people from getting wet in the rain. People have been living, coming and going around WATERRAS and creating a new active community. This is a new chapter in the history of the town.
