Is human limb regeneration a dream? Lessons from lizard tail regeneration. The seminar will report recent data on lizard tail regeneration and comparison with other appendages that do not regenerate. Dr. Alibardi will present new hypotheses that may explain the biological conditions on why many fish and amphibians can regenerate fins and/or limbs, while many terrestrial vertebrates lose this capacity and just form scars. The seminar may provide new insight for regenerative medicine in the attempt to stimulate digits and limb regeneration in higher vertebrates. References Alibardi L.
