In 2011, Joe and Robin were joined in management by their daughter Jennifer Talmadge. World Gym San Francisco is a licensee of World Gym International (not a franchise). Before long, World Gym was the fitness destination for celebrity bodybuilding greats such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno and Dave Draper. By the early 1980s, World Gym was firmly established as a global fitness icon. The brand expanded with franchise locations across the United States and abroad. Joe Gold passed away in 2004. In 2006, World Gym was sold to Planet Fitness, and in 2009, the Cammilleri family acquired the World Gym brand. World Gym San Francisco has the resources and recognition of a global brand while still maintaining the feeling of an authentic hometown gym. There are 47 machines, 90 pieces of equipment as well as 12 classes offered. It is well known for its excellent exercise programs and talented fitness instructors. The gym has also developed nutritional programs so that the health of a customer is aided both through exercise and individualized diets. While other fitness locations continue to purchase new equipment, World Gym San Francisco takes pride in keeping equipment that is appropriate for the body types of its customers.
