Project Background Anhui Province is located in the middle of China, serving as a link between the eastern area and the western area and connecting the north and south. It is an inland province but closes to the sea. The province, having the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and Huanhe River flowing through its territory, links Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces on the east, connects Hubei and Henan provinces on the west, has neighboring Jiangxi Province on the south and Shandong Province on the north, thus, enjoying obvious location-based advantages. The province is about 450km wide (E-W) and about 570km long (S-N), with a total area of 139400 km2 (accounting for 1.45% the national total and ranking the 3rd in the East China Region and the 22nd among the country). Since the end of 2005, the population of the province was 65.155 million, and the population density was 467person/km2, which was over 3 times of the national
