President’s Ponderings Table of Contents February 2020 P 3-4 – Events Calendar P 5 – Board Meeting The vaccine has arrived and is the first step in APT being able to Minutes revitalize our social activities. Several of our members have received both doses of the vaccine, while more have received the P 9– Membership Musings first dose and awaiting the second. There are also those members who have not been able to obtain that first dose, but hopefully will P 10 – Poet’s Corner be obtaining an appointment shortly. P 11 – Legislative Update It remains to be seen how long it will take to get the vast majority of the population vaccinated against Covid-19. Healthcare experts, P 14 – Current Club working with the CDC, have made the following list of Do’s and Activities Don’ts as they relate to the Covid-19 vaccine: DO: Get your vaccine when it's your turn. P 16 – Birthdays and Anniversaries DON'T: Let disinformation on vaccines cloud your judgment. DO: Get vaccinated if you've already had Covid-19. DON'T: Get a shot if you currently have Covid-19 or have been exposed. DO: Get the shot even if you still have Covid-19 symptoms months later. DON'T: Get another type of vaccine within 14 days of the Covid-19 shot. DO: Tell vaccine staff about any allergies or past allergic reactions. DON'T: Drive away before your 15- to 30-minute wait is up. DO: Get your second shot of vaccine within the recommended time frame. DO: Continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing after your shots. Even though you may have received both doses of the vaccine, the new federal task force for the pandemic (as well as the CDC) recommends that you continue to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing whenever possible. Indoor dinning and drinking is still not recommended, although outdoor dining, if tables are properly spaced and everyone is wearing a mask (except while eating), is felt to be 1 Aptitudes Jan-Feb 2021 safe. Unfortunately, we still have a couple of months before outdoor dining is practical. Even outdoors, it is recommended that tables not include more than 6 people and be space for social distancing. We have had several members contract the Covid-19 virus and they continue to recover. The members of the Board of Directors recently did an outreach to all active member reminding them that if they needed assistance during this pandemic, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will provide what assistance we are able to. We do not want any of our member to miss getting a vaccine or other health related services because they do not have transportation or the funds to pay for their healthcare. Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting On Line Zoom Session Thursday, December 17, 2020 President John Hudson called the meeting to order at 3:06 PM. Present were Board members President, John Hudson, Vice-President, Barry Harlan, Treasurer, David Saitta, Secretary, Mike Murphy, Members at Large, Ricky Gallman, Peter Stearns, Chris Harris, Jason Calvert and Membership Director Richard Harlan. Secretary’s Report: The November 2020 Board meeting minutes were approved. Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report as of December 9, 2020 was approved. John Hudson and David Saitta presented the 2021 budget. The budget for 2021 was approved. Membership Director’s Report: Richard Harlan reported that our current membership total is 179 members. Richard reported that we have 15 new members in 2020 year to date compared to 26 per year in 2018 and 2019. Richard noted that 38 members are past due and have not renewed for 2021 to date. Those 38 members are still in the count of 179 members. Richard reported that he believes that the rate of non-renewal will lead to 125 actual current members once December adjustments are calculated. John Hudson and Richard Harlan reported that the membership has been notified of the waived membership dues program for 2021. Richard has sent out membership lapse notices to all those members who have not renewed in 2020. to date. All members who have not renewed their membership as of December 31, 2020 will have their membership terminated. Terminated members will need to submit a new application and fees to be able to participate in any Atlanta Prime Timers events and programs in the future. PTWW Updates: The upcoming National Convention being held in Chattanooga; TN in October 2021 is still a go. The World-Wide Chapter Fees for each Prime Timers Chapter Worldwide has been reduced for 2021. Events and Programs: The Board worked on assigning hosts for potential events in 2021. Listed below are the potential events and the assigned hosts. They are doing well during these challenging times to obtain material to publish. The next monthly Board of Director’s Meeting will be on January 21st at 3pm. The meeting was adjourned at 4:48 pm. Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting On Line Zoom Session Thursday, January 21, 2021 President John Hudson called the meeting to order at 3:04 PM. Present were Board members President, John Hudson, Treasurer, David Saitta, Secretary, Mike Murphy, Members at Large, Ricky Gallman and Peter Stearns. Absent were Vice-President, Barry Harlan, Chris Harris, Jason Calvert and Membership Director Richard Harlan. Secretary’s Report: The December 2020 Board meeting minutes were approved. 6 Aptitudes Jan-Feb 2021 Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report as of December 31, 2020 was approved. David Saitta reviewed the 2021 budget. The budget for 2021 was approved. Membership Director’s Report: Richard Harlan sent in his report prior to the meeting. Richard’s report showed that we have a current membership of 142. Richard reported that there were still 3 people to renew for the month of December. If they have not renewed by January 31st they will be suspended. Richard’s reported that we had 15 new members in 2020. He has also secured guest speakers, Honor Flight members, for the November 6, 2021 meeting. PTWW Updates: Barry Harlan sent out a report on PTWW prior to the meeting. Barry reported that the upcoming National Convention being held in Chattanooga; TN in October 2021 is still a go. The World-Wide Chapter Fees for each Prime Timers Chapter Worldwide has been reduced for 2021. The PTWW has a new logo, visit the site theprimetimersww.com. The site has been updated for 2021, take a look. The PTWW board is meeting via Zoon with leaders of worldwide chapters for an information and brainstorming session throughout January and February. Atlanta Chapter of PTWW is scheduled to zoom on January 27th at 7pm. John Hudson reported that the PTWW is working on a Speaker’s Bureau that can be used by the chapters to have guest speakers at their meetings. Events and Programs: The APT Chapter events and programs are still on hold as we continue to follow the CDC guidelines for gatherings. John Hudson volunteered to become the organizer / host for the Sunday Fun Day program once we get going again.
