Immediate Release CA27/2015 Dual Joys of Christmas at Ngong Ping 360 The world’s first Ip Man Experience Hall to debut at Ngong Ping 360 on 27 November with an aim to boost visitation The first local tourist attraction and movie project jointly present the use of AR technology to allow 3D interactions between actors and guests Ngong Ping 360 Managing Director Dr Stella Kwan shares the anticipated growth in number of daily guests during Christmas and visitation status in the peak travel season in Q4 (Hong Kong, 27 November, 2015) The grand opening of the world's first Ip Man Experience Hall has taken place on 27 November. The venue is open to the public from 28 November 2015 to 31 January 2016. The Ip Man Experience Hall is the key project of the cross-sectoral collaboration of Ngong Ping 360 x Ip Man 3, which opens up a new tourist experience, supports local cinema and art, and promotes the Hong Kong spirit. Despite of displaying the various movie sets, exhibiting the mains characters’ costumes and showcasing the rare authentic Wing Chun weapons in the hall, we provide a free Ip Man 3 smartphone app for guests to download. The app uses augmented reality (AR) technology to emulate Ip Man’s world on the smartphone screen which allows the guests to interact with 1:1 life-sized 3D images of the leading characters and they can also watch a “making of” version of the movie#. Ngong Ping 360 will donate 10% of proceeds from the designated package sales related to Ip Man Experience Hall, after deducting operating costs, to The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, on behalf of both Ngong Ping 360 and Pegasus Motion Pictures Limited. While guests enjoy Ip Man Experience Hall, they can simultaneously contribute to those underprivileged strata of the community. Like other entertainment facilities in Ngong Ping 360, Ip Man Experience Hall brings an amazing and unforgettable sensory experience to our guests. Since the announcement of Ip Man Experience Hall on 2 October, people have been longing to see the grand opening of this experience hall which is pleasantly designed by Pegasus Motion Pictures Limited. It is the first ever Hong Kong movie themed exhibition held at Ngong Ping 360. The three must-see movie sets are the Tin Chi martial arts school, Frank’s underground boxing hall, and the Pharmacy in the 1940s. The movie props and weapons are specially shipped from the studio in Shanghai for exhibition, including the original Wing Chun symbol wooden dummy, the movie’s authentic weapon rack, “eight choppers” and “six and half point long pole”. Guests can commemorate the scenes of the movie and understand Hong Kong kung fu culture and art in the 1940s. Ngong Ping 360 Managing Director Dr Stella Kwan said that, “We look forward to conducting more cross-sectoral collaborations with various movie categories in the future so as to enrich the entertainment experience for our guests and the movie lovers. This winter, surely, it is a “Dual Joys of Christmas at Ngong Ping 360”. Apart from the Ip Man Experience Hall, a famous cartoon character will also come to Ngong Ping 360. With the purchase of a cable car ticket, guests will be able to have a 3D interaction with the leading characters of the movie and visit Ngong Ping Village with the cartoon characters. As we enter the peak travel season in Q4, our daily number of guests in November has been increased by 6% as compared to the same period last year. With these two thematic events to be held at Ngong Ping 360, we anticipate a 5% growth in daily number of guests during this Christmas as compared to the same period last year.” Chairman of Pegasus Entertainment Holdings Limited and Ip Man 3 Producer Mr Raymond Wong applauded the effectiveness of the smartphone app’s AR technology in promoting the movie and engaging the audiences. “By using the smartphone app to scan the designated AR point at each movie sets in the Ip Man Experience Hall, guests can interact with life-sized 3D images of the related movie leading characters. For an instance, at the fight set between Ip Man (Donnie Yen) and Zhang Tian Chi (Max Zhang), and Frank’s (Mike Tyson) underground boxing hall, through the AR technology, the 3D images of the leading characters appear on the guests smartphone screen. Guests can have a kung fu match against Ip Man and Zhang Tian Chi, or practise with a speedball alongside with Frank. Needless to say, this interactive way of exhibition can enhance guests’ engagement as compared to the traditional one. I have to thank the smartphone app designing team’s hard work and dedication who have devoted months in designing the app and testing it repeatedly in order to enrich the content. Ip Man’s fans should never miss it! I believe the application of innovative and interactive technology in movie promotions is the upcoming trend in the future,” said Wong. Besides, guests who use the app to locate the 8 lost wooden dummy scripts among the 108 scripts at Ngong Ping Village will receive a movie- themed souvenir. To match with the 1940s background of the movie and to bring all around experience to our guests, Ngong Ping Garden Restaurant has rolled out the Ip Man Kung Fu Meal presenting traditional Cantonese dim sum dishes, namely, the steamed chicken bun, quail egg shao mai, pork liver shao mai, steamed crystal shrimp dumpling and etc. — End — #For more details, please refer to the appendix of Ip Man Experience Hall Details of the Ip Man Experience Hall: Exhibition period: Visit method: 28 November 2015 to Guests who purchase the designated Pass or any 31 January 2016 sort of cable car ticket plus a receipt of a minimum spend of HKD100 at Ngong Ping Village to get free admission to the Ip Man Experience Hall.
