Approximately 18 months ago Kedron Wavell Hockey committed to ensuring we improve our marketing of the club and increase our communication to our members and community partners. It has been an exciting but challenging journey as we look to turn Kedron Wavell Hockey into a more modern sporting club. In 2016 we initiated a number of fundamental reforms to improve the Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club. These included: 1. Increasing on our online presence through the introduction of an integrated social media platform such as: ◦ New Website ◦ Updated Facebook page ◦ Introduction of Instagram ◦ New regular newsletter format This resulted in a considerable increased online presence, audience engagement and reach across all platforms. 2. Structured external and internal partnership agreements that involved a full understanding of both parties needs Agreements for our high level coaches 3. Introduction of a Social Media Manager role 4. Review of branding ownership and protection Throughout the 2016 season the Club continued its connectivity with our community, with a number of new partnerships and critical renewals. Renewal of our principal partner arrangement with Kedron Wavell Services Club. TPS Health – Introduction of physiotherapy, strapping & assessment for our top tier women’s team during games. Bulk billing of therapy for our top tier men & women’s team. Mid week assessment for all club members and highly discounted services to all members Osaka Hockey – Partnership agreement that see’s a donation of equipment and wholesale pricing on hockey equipment for our new store Stronach Building – 3 year term arrangement that saw and upgrade of our masters uniform and player equipment Chermside Family Dental – Partnership to increase the safety of all Kedron Wavell Hockey players through discounted mouth guards. Over the last year Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club also introduced the following internal initiatives. Access to one on one personal skills training sessions with premium coaches Introduction of an additional revenue stream with the opening of the Kedron Wavell Osaka Hockey online shop Looking Forward 2017/2018 Next season see’s the continuation of the Club’s strategy for fundamental reforms with the introduction of a mobile communication software that give us one of the leading communications and member engagement platforms in the QLD sporting community. It will also be coupled with a trial of an online fee payment program. We hope these two additions will bring a great response from our members. Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club Annual Report 2016 Page 3 Lastly and the most exciting news for Kedron Wavell and Brisbane Hockey in general is the announcement late this year of the intention to build a second artificial turf at Burringbar, Home of the Kedron Wavell Wolves. With funding from Brisbane City Council, Federal Government and private business, we will become the premium hockey facility in Brisbane allowing for increased games, training and due to its close proximity to hotels and our principal partner Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club a venue capable of holding local and national tournaments. I’d like to finish by thanking our committee, volunteers, members and parents for what was an exciting year for Kedron Wavell Hockey and I look forward to catching up with everyone for the 2017 season Regards Peter Gaddes Partnership Manager Principal Partner Corporate Partners Community Partners Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club Annual Report 2016 Page 4 Management Committee President Patron Vice President Women Vice President Girls John Davis Jenny Tidey Tracey Sullivan Natasha Gaddes Secretary Assistant Secretary Vice President Men Vice President Boys Christine Ian Smith Allan Myers Brendan Anderson Blanchard Club Captain Women Club Captain Men Jasmine Larosa Jacob Jennison Kedron Wavell Services Hockey Club Annual Report 2016 Page 5 Treasurer Assistant Treasurer Partnerships BHMG Manager Representative Amanda Paech Fiona Taylor Peter Gaddes Ian Harcla Sub Committees MENS Vice President: Alan Myers Treasurer: Michelle Weekes LADIES Vice President: Tracey Sullivan BOYS Vice President: Brendan Anderson GIRLS Life Member and men’s masters player Ian Vice President: Natasha Gaddes Harcla has played for Kedron Wavell for 51 Treasurer: Secretary: Lisa Newbold straight seasons! Once again, it was also great to see KW players turning out for national teams, including the Hockeyroos, and the Men’ s Australian Masters; as well as several Wolves in the AHL. Club Management The Club’s Management Committee and Club Captains did another great job this year, and I was really pleased to attend another great end-of-season Junior’s function, this year at a new venue – unfortunately hampered a bit by the rain (but not quite as badly as the rain then affected the Women’s Div. 1 grand final the following week!); and then followed with the Senior Presentation night at the Services Club where we pulled a record number for many a year – and almost filled the Kittyhawk Room. Each event once again highlighted for me the way in which our supporters, volunteers and parents are the platform of future success. It was great to see all of the joy at the recognition given to our Club’s on-field and off-field supporters – particularly to Marty Couch as the winner of the Patron’s Trophy in 2016, presented at the Junior Presentation Night with an encore at the Senior Night. The Club also gave a very loud vote of acknowledgement on Senior Presentation night when very long- standing member Ian Jones was inducted as our newest Life Member – joining his mother Mavis Jones who was our very first Life Member. Off-field champions Once again I am overwhelmed by the efforts of those who make our Club happen off the field, organising sections, canteen, teams, partnerships and all the other myriad activities that make it possible for the players to run out every week. As I have done in previous years, I again want to note here my very sincere thanks, on behalf of the Club, to every single one of you and to all of you. You are all both the foundation of the club and the framework on which we build the outwardly-noticed success and player
