We hope that this Services Guide will be a useful resource for both residents and visitors to the Goyder region. ASSESSMENTS The Valuer-General sets the value of your property on which the Council bases its annual rates. Email : [email protected] See also Concessions, Rates. 1 Updated May 2017 AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS Australia Day Awards for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year are presented at community events held on Australia Day. Nominations are called in early September for the four Wards and will be received up to the first week in November (Check at Council offices or Council’s website for the closing date). Nomination forms are available from the Council offices and/or can be downloaded from Council’s website. B BABY CHANGE FACILITIES Burra: Located in the Mary Warnes Room, Market Square (next to the Burra & Goyder Visitors’ Centre). Open Mon-Fri 9.00 am-5.00 pm, Weekends 10.00 am-4.00 pm. Eudunda : Located in South Terrace (opposite Eudunda Hotel/Motel). BACKYARD BURNING See Permits. BADGE DAYS See Permits. BARBECUES Burra : 2 electric barbecues at the Thomas Pickett Reserve, Burra Creek (opposite Paxton Square Cottages). 1 electric (coin operated) barbecue at the Burra Creek Reserve, adjacent to the Senior Citizens’ display garden. Eudunda : 2 free electric barbecues in Centenary Park gardens in the centre of Eudunda. Terowie : 1 Electric barbecue located in Pioneer Park, Main Street (next to the Playground), North Terrace Booborowie : 1 Electric barbecue located in Booborowie Recreation Ground, North Terrace (next to swimming pool). Mount Bryan : 1 Electric barbecue located in Sir Hubert Wilkins Reserve, Railway Parade Robertstown: 1 Electric (coin operated) barbecue located in Park, Commercial Street, next to the Community Centre. Point Pass : 1 free barbeque at Standpipe Reserve, corner of Main Street and Stock Route Road. BEES Council does not provide a bee removal service. C CATS Lost/Found Council does not collect found or lost cats and is unable to assist in the disposal of cats. Refer to the RSPCA 8231 2120 or to the Animal Welfare League. 8268 4188 Cat Traps Cat traps for the capture of feral cats can be obtained from the Council office. ($50 deposit for one week’s use). CEMETERIES Burials and Maintenance For burials and cemetery maintenance, contact Technical Services. 8892 0100 Locations Burra, Booborowie, Whyte Yarcowie, Terowie, Hallett, Farrell Flat, Robertstown and Eudunda. Registers Cemetery Registers are held at the Burra and Eudunda Council offices. Burra: 8892 0100 Cemetery records are also accessible through a searchable database Eudunda: 8581 1101 on Council’s website. The Burra cemetery records are also available at the Burra Community Library. 8892 2038 CHEMICAL DRUM DISPOSAL DrumMuster is available at the Burra, Hallett & Eudunda Transfer Stations, Please seek the Transfer Station Attendant assistance for access to the compound during operating times. CHEMICALS – DISPOSAL Council cannot accept unwanted farm and household chemicals. For information 8204 2051 on disposal depots and the ChemCollect Program, contact Zero Waste. The Council area is divided into 4 Wards – Hallett, Burra, Robertstown and Eudunda. Local Government elections are held every four years. Council Elected Members Refer to list on page 20. Council Staff Refer to list on page 19. Council Meetings Meetings commence at 1.00 pm, with public question time being allocated between 1.00 pm – 1:30 pm. Council meetings are normally held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month commencing at 1.00 pm in the Council Meeting Room, Burra. The public are welcome to attend all Council meetings. Committees and Working Parties Council Committees and Working Parties meet regularly to discuss various issues and to make recommendations to the full Council. Meeting Agendas/Minutes Agendas and Minutes are available for viewing and/or purchase from the Council offices and are also posted to Council’s website. 5 Updated May 2017 Council Logo The logo concept depicts the iconic farmhouse ruin and the rolling hills of the Goyder Region. The farmhouse ruin is a reflective historic legacy of the region’s agricultural progress and its relationship with Goyder’s Line. The colour palette of the rolling hills reflects the changing seasonal landscape across the region and has been given a modern touch with stylised illustration. CROSSOVERS Work can only be undertaken by Council staff. Contact Technical Services. 8892 0100 DEVELOPMENT Development Plan All development applications are assessed against the Goyder (Regional Council) Development Plan having regard to the Zoning of the particular parcel of land to be developed. For further information contact the Development Officer - Planning 8892 0100 Development Applications All development applications to undertake building work (new, additions, demolition) are assessed against the relevant building codes and standards.
