John Keller 281-469-2686 st rd Meetings 1 and 3 Wednesday at 7:00 pm—Zaka Road Hall—9623 Zaka Road [email protected] Grand Knight Dave Lewis (DeAnn) Easter Message by Father Biju Mathew 713-628-8558 Easter always, invites us to reflect on the new life in [email protected] Deputy Grand Knight Christ. A meaningful celebration of Easter takes us into a Merv Albert (Mary Jane) deeper mediation of Three-Dimensional philosophy of our 713-899-1513 Christian journey. We clearly find the Empty Tomb; sec- [email protected] ondly, we find the Apostles’ Witness of the Resurrection; Chancellor Brian Gray (Julie) and thirdly to love and faith leading to quicker response. 832-767-9465 Finding the Empty Tomb: [email protected] - the description of the empty tomb in the gospels is a natural sign of the Financial Secretary Resurrection of Jesus. The death of Jesus was witnessed and confirmed in Larry Hogan (Barbara) 281-772-8958 various ways; and that was important, because there is no resurrection with- [email protected] out death. The resurrection can be confirmed if only death is confirmed; and Treasurer the evangelists clearly mention his burial, then the empty tomb that leads to Hugh McCrea (Theresa) affirm the resurrection. 281-370-0023 [email protected] Towards a personal experience of resurrection, it is important that we Recorder encounter the empty tomb of Christ. Mary Magdalene, initially, expressed Chuck Stancil (Terri) disappointment at the empty tomb; but the next moment her knowledge lead 281-433-3461 her to another fundamental question; where is Jesus, if he is not in the [email protected] Warden tomb! Then we find in the scriptures Peter and John witnessing the empty Eugene “Smitty” Schmidt (Paula) tomb. The experience of the empty tomb gave them a convincing answer that 713-818-3646 Jesus is Risen. To experience personal conviction of His resurrection, we all [email protected] need to visit the empty tombs of our own interiority and recognize the need Advocate Matt Maciejeski to rise - to experience the new life in Christ. The Richard Carter (Cindy) 713-253-8482 definition presented was; “Disciples habitually worship, [email protected] grow, serve, give, share their faith, live virtuously and Mike Velez build community.” What struck me about this description 832-876-2369 [email protected] is how it describes what a Knight is or should be working Trustee—1 year toward. In working with and observing my brothers at Gary Maly (Deborah) 8482 and other Councils, I see many examples of disciples. Some, perhaps, 713-857-7267 more than others. As we close in on the last days of Lent I will be thinking [email protected] about discipleship and how I can be a better disciple. From a personal view- Trustee—2 year Jim Schier (Andi) point I need to work harder on all of these attributes. But if I just picked two 832-647-8696 which need the most work, my prayer life is not nearly where it should be [email protected] and I don’t share my faith nearly as much as I should. Perhaps you also have Trustee—3 year one or two things that need more work. Lent is a perfect time to get started Fernando Flores (Dee Dee) 281-468-2854 on these. DANIEL SCHEEL HOME ASSOCIATION Knight of the Month - March, 2019 Jim McBane Board of Directors President Richard Carter (Cindy) Vice-President Bill Vacek (Mary) Secretary Larry Hildebrand (Pat) Jim has chaired two extremely successful events at Prince of Treasurer Peace. The first was, what we hope will be, the annual Advent John Adams (Pam) Fellowship Sonday. This was hosted in conjunction with the Vocations Mission. Jim, with Hank Walker’s help, recruited Year 2019 help from many ministries, especially Hispanic, to serve the Richard Carter (Cindy) breakfast or dinner. He recently chaired the extremely suc- Larry Hildebrand (Pat) cessful Mardi Gras dance with our co-host Catholic Daughters Matt Maciejeski of the Americas. Jim did not simply find a band and determine a ticket price but created attractive sponsorship opportunities Year 2020 which ensured the success of the night. He put together a Larry LaHaie (Melinda) team who handled all the duties with efficiency. He captured all the income and expenses and reported them immediately Smitty Schmidt (Paula) after the event. Most importantly to me as your Grand Knight, Bill Vacek (Mary) Jim did 99% of the work only asking me to sign a letter and Year 2021 send out an email reminder. Jim helps during the week at Prince of Peace on a volunteer basis. Jim also took on the task Vince Bonura (Patricia) of chairing the Alpha program meals provided by the Knights. John Adams (Pam) He coordinated with Vince Bonura to do three Alpha meals in the fall and two in February of this year. Prince of Peace ap- proached Jim about the need to find a host for the first Fellow- ship Sonday in January. Working with Jim Vossler and Jim’s cook team the Council was able to put on a pancake breakfast.
