Several shallow features were found, including a gully or field drain and a granite rubble-filled feature. An area of terrace material was found, corresponding to the Fosse Way, a major Roman Road. A late Saxon date from the pre-alluvial ditch implied that this was built partly on terraced material as opposed to alluvial deposits. A late Saxon date has been applied to alluviating conditions and woodland clearance. All archaeological deposits would be destroyed by the proposed development. A large linear feature also produced post-medieval pottery.
