GUARDIAN BUILDING EVENT SPACE RENTAL INFORMATION INTRODUCTION Event Information Thank you for considering The Guardian Building as a potential venue for your upcoming special event. We are currently accepting requests through October 31, 2020 and have several dates available. As a Downtown Detroit Landmark, The Guardian offers premier event space to host a variety of gatherings. This unique venue provides a beautiful backdrop to any event. It is guaranteed to exceed your expectations and impress your guests! The Guardian Building opened in 1929 as The Union Trust Building. This 486 feet, 40 floor building is made of almost 2 million custom “Guardian Bricks” and is sure to leave a lasting impression on everyone that attends your event. The amazing 5-story Michigan Mural was created by Ezra Winter and the Tiffany Clock provides a great background for photo opportunities on the Promenade. Phone: 313.963.4567 Email: [email protected] Website: www.GuardianBuilding.com 500 Griswold Street | Detroit, Michigan 48226 | 313.963.4567 | GuardianBuilding.com JUST THE BASICS Event Information RESERVATIONS • Reservation requests should be submitted in writing to the Building Management Office a minimum of two (2) days prior to the requested date for meetings and four (4) months prior to the requested date for special events. • Requests may be dropped off to the Management Office (Suite 1600 on the 16th floor of the Guardian) or emailed to [email protected]. • Reservation requests are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. • Cancellations must occur at least one (1) business day prior to your reservation for meetings and ninety (90) days prior to your special event or you may be charged the minimum usage fee for the space. CATERING • It is the guest’s responsibility to provide any catering for their meeting. For your convenience a list of potential caterers is included in this packet. These are reliable caterers we have worked with in the past • Caterers must provide a Certificate of Liability insurance. The certificate should list 400 Monroe Associates, EDC Charter County of Wayne and Beanstalk Real Estate Solutions as additional insured. • Load in/Load out directions will be provided for your vendors in advance. HELPFUL HINT… • We strongly recommend working with an event coordinator and closely with the Guardian Property Management team to ensure the success of your event. ALCOHOL • If alcohol will be served, please be advised that any persons consuming alcohol must abide by the Michigan Liquor Laws. • Renters assume all responsibilities and liability and will hold the Owner harmless from any liabilities resulting from alcohol being served in the building. • Intoxicated persons and minors may not be served. • Alcohol service will be the exclusive responsibility of the Renter and Caterer. A Certificate of Liability insurance is required. Vendor must have either a liquor license or liquor liability insurance. PRESENTATION / AV NEEDS All audio and visual needs are the responsibility of the event organizer. This includes DJ & Band equipment, speakers, microphones, presentation screen/laptop, etc. PROVIDING CLEAR DRIVING DIRECTIONS FOR YOUR GUESTS Extra consideration needs to be given to ongoing downtown construction. DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE AS GUESTS ARRIVE This is signage inside the building/lobby. Poster signage on an easel works well and is recommended. DECORATIONS / EQUIPMENT RENTALS The Guardian Building does not rent decorations or equipment. These items will have to be provided by you or an outside vendor. Please see our vendor recommendation list. GUEST / VENDOR PARKING We suggest you provide a list and map of nearby parking structures for your guests.
