This is your chance to get involved in making local birth, marriage and death records available on the internet. Atlantics Geomatics, a local surveying and mapping company, is pioneering the development of a system to digitise the parish records and map the graveyard. Once completed this will provide a live source of information which will be easy to access. The company will map the graveyard using multiple photographs from drones as well as GPS and traditional surveying techniques and will plot all features of the area; they will photograph the headstones and will make digital copies of the registers. All the information will be cross referenced on a database set up by the company. This where the community involvement comes in. You can volunteer to be in right at the beginning of this project, inputting data, cross referencing records, or checking the information before it is published. It is hoped that a group will be established to meet together to make this valuable asset available to the local and wider community. The cost will be around £1500 to set up the scheme, and the annual running costs will be about £200. Dacre Church will help to finance the project but further sponsorship from individuals or businesses will be deeply appreciated. If you are interested in either helping with the database or with sponsorship, please ring Sue & Steve Huddart, on 01768483082 or email [email protected] Blencowe and Laithes Village Hall ● May 7th - We have a Pie and Pea Supper with a Beetle Drive 7pm - tickets £8/£6veggie/£5 under 16, in advance from Nick 01768 483864, Sue 01768 The Clickham Inn is now open 12- 483111, Susan 01768 480629 or Keith 11pm daily, with food served all day 077607753300 from 12-8.30pm ● June 11th - Celebrate The Queens 90th Birthday - Come along and try our Special menu.
