The season is now well underway, with a positive start into life in Anglian Combination Division 4. Currently sitting third in the table, coming off the back of beating last seasons div 5 champions and current league leaders. We have started well and I have been pleased with the performances from the lads, we are now starting to see the benefits from the quality that Adam Seals coaching is bringing to the squad, even our disappointing results against Scole and Thorpe where we were dominate. New signings that have come in are starting to settle into the squad and have positive impacts in games, the whole squad will play a part in the games ahead! We are also pleased to be welcoming Kyle Wells and Finlay Howe from Kings Lynn Town on a dual registrations, we hope to see these young lads progress and improve our squad throughout the season - we thank King’s Lynn Town for their support with these players. The reserves finally got to play last seasons Division one cup final at Fakenham Town, well done the North West Norfolk League for getting these finals played. Unfortunately the games finished 3-0 to Snettisham FC - all focus can now turn to the league where they have only played two games! They host Birchwood FC today, please give them your support. Our young development lads are still looking for their first win, they were unfortunate not to pick up all three points away against top of the league Upwell Town, well done to the young lads for being the first side to take points from them. Seeing these guys develop in training has been great to see and hopefully we will start to see some of these lads come through into the first team. Massive thanks to Sean and Dave at Elite Property Improvements for their continued support, they have sponsored the first teams rain jackets ready for the winter! Great work again. Lastly, a big thanks goes to Daniel Lawrence of Daniel Lawrence Plumbing and Heating for his support yet again in sponsoring all our remaining Anglian Combination league games at home! The 19th October 2020 marked the 8th year anniversary since the passing of long serving groundsman John Bunn. At the young age of 15 John became the Vice Chairman of Dersingham Football Club stretching to 49 years work of service as groundsman before his passing. John was also awarded ‘Norfolk FA groundsman of the year’ for his hard work, love and commitment at the pastures. Many would also remember him for his hilarious football presentation speeches and his dry wit. John would spend pretty much most of his spare time down at the football field making sure the pitches were maintained to a playable standard so fewer games would be cancelled. I’m sure John would be delighted to see the progression of the club after being reformed a few years back. John will always be remembered as a legend to the club. Dersingham started the game brightly and dominated the game early on, creating chance after chance. Alex Kittle broke the deadlock early on with a lovely finish. Dersignham Continued to dominate the game but Longham got back into the game with a equalizer, Lewis Curson responded straight away after he bundled the ball into the back of the net! Lewis Curson again firing into the bottom of the corner before HT. Longham made a nervy end to the game with a goal with 10 minutes to go. Longham piling forward for a point however the Dersy boys held on. A game that should have been out of sight. 3 – 2 Dersingham Goals from: Lewis Curson x 2 | Alex Kittle MOM: Skipper Lewis Curson. UEA Reserves vs Dersingham Rovers Saturday 24th October 2020 Dersy travelled to lead leaders UEA reserves in what we knew would be a tough test for us. Dersingham yet again started the game quickly and brightly, dominating the ball. Dersy creating lots of chances but not finding the back of the net., story of the season so far!! Finally Dersy score with a lovely ball from Gino livoti, Alex Kittle runs in behinds and is 1 on 1 with the GK, he calmly takes the ball around the keeper and confidently slots the ball into the net! After half time UEA centre half gets sent off for his hands around Alex Kittles neck, bring him down, which happened to be the last man. Free kick in the right corner gets whipped in which Zac Fountain heads back across goal and Timmy Peppers sends into the back on the net.. couldn’t miss (or could he?) 2 -0 Dersy. A red card with 10 to go for Jake Wiseman see the game evened up. UEA pushing high up the pitch but couldn’t trouble Aaron in goal. A big 3 points for the boys in yellow against top of the league! A special mention must go to UEA keeper who was outstanding and kept the score line down! It was formed in 1894 and was a founder member of the North Norfolk and Norwich League, which began in 1895. In 1927 the club joined the Norwich and District League and went on to win this league on five occasions. In 1935 the club was in the Norfolk and Suffolk League and did not suffer a league defeat until December that year, when they lost to Norwich City A at Carrow Road. Holt were also the first amateur team to play at the newly-built Carrow Road ground. In 1985 Holt United left their ground at Jubilee Road, which was sold to finance the new Sports Centre complex at Kelling Road, however this meant for one season Holt played their matches at Gresham's School.
