Lawrence Festival In this the centenary year of the publication of ‘The White Peacock’. Come and join us for a range of walks, talks, performances and family activities to celebrate Lawrence’s life and work, many themed around ‘The White Peacock’ and Lawrence’s love of the local countryside. Events will run from Friday 9th to Sunday 18th September 2011 with the Exhibition in the gallery continuing until the end of September. This shorter festival period is mainly due to the uncertain future we were facing up until March 2011, when the University of Nottingham kindly donated a sum of money to assist in funding Durban House for the next two years. We are hoping to recruit a team of local artists who will help us create a visual archive of the site as it is in 2011. Mike will begin the day with a quick tour of the site, explaining the history of each area. He will then be ‘on hand’ throughout the day with practical help, hints and tips about how to get the best out of your artwork. We hope to use a selection of the images created in a new leaflet about the history of the site. Following the workshop we will ask to keep the artwork and get it electronically scanned and then the original work will be returned to you. No images would be used in the leaflet without first getting your consent. The price of the workshop includes lunch and an accompanying drink served in the newly open, on site Tea Rooms. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are also available to buy throughout the day. Participants should bring their own preferred materials and a drawing board/easel.
