Thanks to this policy, Riga Airport is among the most competi- tive airports in the Baltic Sea Region. Riga Airport sets its tariffs applying the so-called “single cash” principle, according to which Airport’s expen- diture is covered from both aviation and non-aviation service revenue, which affects the fees that are applied to airlines and passengers. The analysis of the total aviation revenue per passenger shows that the revenue of Riga Airport (per passen- ger) is among the lowest in the Baltic Sea Region. It only exceeds the revenue figures of Lithuanian airports, A New Passenger Record which service low-cost airlines. Riga International Airport has demonstrated its leading position in the Baltic Region, handling nearly half of the total number of passengers of the Baltic airports in 2016.
