In my third year as President I am very proud again of what we have achieved this year. Each year we lift the bar as a club. To all the families who joined the club this year it was great to have you as a part of the LJFC family for the first time and to all families I hope you enjoyed your time at the club this year. I would like to thank everyone around the club for the year we have had and congratulate the many of you, who put their hands up each week, on a job well done. We had 6 teams reach the finals (out of a possible 12) this year, which was one less than last year. 2 teams made it through to the Preliminary Final. Unfortunately we did not see any blue and white on Grand Final day but as hosts of the finals again this year we certainly had a good time. We fielded 19 teams and had 427 players registered. This is up by two teams and 47 players from 2013. We had 11 new coaches appointed, with a number of those with either senior playing and or coaching experience. From an on field perspective we are very proud of the year. We do not only measure our success in final appearances but in the knowledge that our children have enjoyed their football and improved their football, team and social skills. Of course we know that what each team strives for is to play in a finals campaign and reach grand final success and if not this year there is always next year. It gives the teams and players motivation to have more on field success next year. For our 9’s and 10’s teams it is all about participation and learning the game. It was great to know from your coaches that you continued to develop and improve as the year progressed. It was also exciting that for the first time we had 4 under 9’s sides. There were approximately 250 children registered for Auskick this year so the numbers coming through continue to be strong. A key focus for this year was the establishment of our Junior and Youth girls sides. It was great too see the girls play in their first round and improve during the year. While our Junior girls did not win a game they certainly made progress and by the end of the last four rounds did not lose a game by more than 18 points. Our Youth girls made the preliminary final and just missed out making it into the last game of the year. As a club we have not had many girls play footy so it was very exciting to see 38 girls register this year. With the progress and enthusiasm we are expecting to see more join next year. I would like to thank Jenny Randall who coordinated the setup of our girls teams. At the start of the year I turned to Jenny and asked if she would take on the role. She agreed without hesitation and can now look back fondly on the contribution she has made. - 7 - Langwarrin Junior Football Club 2014 Annual Report This year we saw a number of new and innovative ideas implemented. We have seen: 1. The introduction of online medical information capture through Care Monkey. 2. New signage in the social/change rooms such as sponsors and updated the club theme song for our girls teams. 3. Five new sets of footy jumpers. 4. Replaced worn out training and team manager equipment. 5. Installed extra security cameras in the Junior Pavilion. 6. Installed our trophy cabinets. 7. Installed cabinetry in the office and cleaning cupboard room. 8. Installed security gate in front of canteen roller door. 9. Installed cages in the storage rooms to give better access to training equipment for coaches. 10. Landscaping out the front of the social room. 11. Sanity bins in womens toilets. 12. Air fresheners in all toilets. 13. Purchased a lectern. 14. New sponsorship banner for wall in social room. 15. Started to go through old records to construct club history and honour board information. 16. Installation of Oval 1 and Oval 3 electronic scoreboards. An asset we will get a lot out of including generating more sponsorship revenue. 17. Split of development squad unto an Under 14 and 15 squad who attended 5 monthly squad lessons. The Under 16’s trained twice with the senior group. 18. Dramatically improved all our media thanks to Haydn Quirk: o Website refreshed o Facebook more active o Monthly newsletter 19. Launched new app for all teams. 20. Put all our Trainers through Level 2 First Aid training. 21. Named our Outstanding Service award the “The Hargreaves Family Outstanding Service Award” in honour of Deb Hargreaves who passed away in 2013. 22. Named our inaugural Junior and Youth Girls Highest vote award after Melinda Gibson who has been a long and committed parent and committee member around the club. - 8 - Langwarrin Junior Football Club 2014 Annual Report Congratulations to Kieran Collins, past player, who has been selected into the AFL AIS Level 2 Scholarship Program for 2014/15. This is an exciting opportunity for Kieran after his first year with the AIS. We wish him all the best as he pursues his football ambitions. Congratulations to Luke Parker, past player, who won the Sydney Swans B&F Bob Skilton medal for 2014. I would like to thank Sam Watson (President), Greg Planner
