Frisbee and disc golf have been an important part of my life for over 40 years – from my first Frisbee contest in Cocoa Beach, FL in 1975 (the CK101 Radio Frisbee Fly-in), first disc golf competition in 1978 (Florida Frisbee Championships – Novice Division Champion), World Disc Golf Championships in 1983/84/85, first PDGA-sanctioned TD role (1985 April Fools in Tallahassee, FL), publishing the first PDGA Course Directory in 1985, to the modern era – installing courses, running events and volunteering here in San Diego and So Cal – throwing (and sometimes catching) flying discs have always provided a great deal of joy to me and have helped me find a way to give back to the community and the group I like to refer to as the “Frisbee Family”. The Challenge is the biggest event I have ever undertaken and there’s no way it could have happened without the help, support and guidance of many people. This year we’re a “Test Event” for the Disc Golf Pro Tour and an A/B-tier. If all goes well we may make the jump to the next level (or higher). If (when) that happens, I’ll be asking for even more help and support from even more of you – so be ready! I have clearly drunk the Kool-Aid here at Goat Hill Park. It’s a gem of a course with the bite of a nasty billy goat at times. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to work with a great group of folks here at the Goat – every time I drive through the gate I find something has been improved, built, polished, planted. It’s a very welcoming environment. My friends and teammates at Innova Disc Golf are a big reason why I can do so much of what I do in disc golf. The past nine years as an Ambassador have been an honor and a privilege for me. And I can’t leave out the love and support I get from my kids – Katie and AJ. Katie gives me so much support behind the scenes as my sounding board and go-fer. And AJ (my former mini-me) has grown into a seasoned, respected professional disc golfer – living the dream for many of us to live through vicariously. I couldn’t be prouder of how these two young adults have turned out. Thanks to all of you who have helped and supported over these past years – there’s more to come! - Allen Risley, Tournament Director, PDGA #1752 2 Schedule Thursday, May 2, 2019 - 2pm – 7pm – MPO/FPO player early check-in (or check in 30 minutes before tee time on Friday, May3) Friday, May 3, 2017 – 8am – 11am – 1st round tee times for MPO/FPO players – tee times on PDGA.com Friday, May 3, 2017 – 6pm – 9pm – Welcome Players Party @ Goat Hill Park Saturday, May 4, 2019 – 8am – 2:30pm – 2nd round tee times for MPO/FPO, 1st round for all other divisions – tee times listed on PDGA.com Sunday, May 5, 2019 – 8am – 2:30pm – 3rd round tee times for MPO/FPO, 2nd round for all other divisions – tee times listed on PDGA.com Sunday, May 5, 2019 – 6pm (approx.) – Awards and Cinco de Mayo Party Sponsors No sporting event occurs without the contributions of others.
