He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur (2002). M. Adler is a history graduate of the École normale supérieure (1969-1974). He directed the Chair for International Relations of France’s Ministry of Defense Interarmy College of Defense (1992–1998) where he remains a professor of higher military learning. After collaborating with French daily Libération (1982-1992), Adler went on to become the editorial director of the Courrier International (1992-2002), a weekly selection of significant articles from the international press. Adler served as an editorialist for the French daily of record Le Monde and collaborated with several French weeklies, including Le Point and L’Express. He currently sits on the editorial board of the conservative French daily Le Figaro. Anne-Valère AMO Cross-asset ETF Strategist - Institutional Circle, Lombard Odier Anne-Valère is currently responsible for cross-asset ETF selection and advisory at Lombard Odier. She joined Lombard Odier in 2001 where she has been dedicated to quantitative research, hedge fund replication, investment risk management and since 2013, ETF strategies. Prior to 2001, Anne-Valère was a Quantitative Analyst at Union Bancaire Privée, a Senior Statistician at MSCI (where she participated to the creation of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) and led the rebalancing of the first MSCI index launched in real time: the MSCI Japan Index) as well as a Teaching Assistant in Mathematics and Statistics at the Econometrics Department of the University of Geneva. Anne-Valère holds a BSc. in Quantitative Methods (1991), a MSc. in Econometrics (1994) and a Ph.D. in fractal analysis applied to Finance from the University of Geneva (1998). SPEAKERS Roberto CAGNATI Managing Director - Partners Group Roberto Cagnati is Co-Head of the Portfolio Management business unit, based in Zug. He has been with Partners Group since 2004 and has 13 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Partners Group, he had assignments at Deutsche Bank Asset Management and Credit Suisse Private Banking. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Konstanz, Germany. Peter DAMGAARD JENSEN Chair & CEO - IIGCC & PKA Since 2001 Peter Damgaard Jensen is the CEO of PKA. After graduating in 1981 from The University of Aarhus as a master of Political Science he joined the Association of County Councils in Denmark. In 1985 he moved to the Danish Nurses Organization in Denmark where he had different management positions. He left the Danish Nurses Organization in 2001 to join PKA. Peter is a member of the board in The Danish Insurance Association and has previously been chairman and vice chairman of the board. He is the vice chairman in Forca Ltd (a company in the pension fund and life insurance in- dustry). Peter was a member of the Board in DEAS (Dan-Ejendomme) - Denmark’s biggest property management company - in the period 2001-2006. Peter is a member of the advisory board of The Danish Climate Investment Fund for climate investments in emerging markets and member of the advisory board in Axcel Ltd (leading Danish private equity Company). Since January 2017 Peter is the Chair of IIGCC. Peter had been an IIGCC Board Member since December 2013. SPEAKERS Sinikka DEMARÉ CFA - Institutional Circle, SDemare Advisory Sinikka Demaré is an Independent Advisor for institutional investors and their service providers. As of 2014 Sinikka Demaré serves as Venture Partner at Nextech Invest Ltd. Prior to this, Mrs. Demaré was Managing Director at Ortec Finance, whose Swiss office she founded in 2007. During her time at Ortec, Mrs. Demaré was responsible for strategic asset allocation and investment consulting for pension funds, insurance companies and other asset and private wealth managers as well as having direct responsibility for several large institutional investors. For 20 years before joining Ortec, she held leading positions in corporate finance, bu- siness and pensions fund management at Dow Chemical. Mrs. Demaré obtained her Master of Science in Economics from the Business School of Helsinki and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. She was twice selected by the aiCIO magazine as one of the top 25 global consultants. Charles GAVE Founder, Chairman & Chief Investment Officer - Gavekal Charles has been researching tactical asset allocation for over fourty years. After three years as a financial analyst in a French investment bank, Charles created Cecogest in 1974. Cecogest was an independent research firm with a large global client base. In 1986, Charles stepped away from pure research to move into money management. He co-founded Cursitor-Eaton Asset Management where he was Chief Investment Officer. At Cursitor, Charles managed over US$10bn of institutional money on a global asset allocation mandate. Cursitor was sold in 1995 to Alliance Capital and Charles remained with Alliance Capital until 1999. At this time, he elected to go back to his first love: re- search on tactical asset allocation. He left Alliance Capital to create Gavekal where he is the Chairman. Charles sits on the board of numerous companies, and has written several books. Charles writes a weekly column for the French newspaper Le Journal des Finances. SPEAKERS Grégoire HAENNI Founder of Institutional Circle & CIO - Caisse de Prévoyance de l’État de Genève Grégoire Haenni is the Chief Investment Officer of the Caisse de Prévoyance de l’Etat de Genève (CPEG) he joined in June 2014. He is responsible for the pension fund’s asset allocation efforts for all multi-asset classes. Prior to that, he was the CIO of the pen- sion fund of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, based in Geneva, Switzerland. During his almost 5-year time at CERN, he put in place an investment frame- work today acknowledged as the CERN Investment Model. Before that, Grégoire headed the Research and Investment Department of Bank of China (Suisse) Fund Management SA. He also founded Bedrock Alternative Asset Management SA, a subsidiary of Bedrock Group where he led the research and portfolio management activities. From 2001 to 2007, Grégoire was a senior qualitative and quantitative analyst at Pictet & Cie’s Alternative Investment Department. He also managed the Asian multi-strategy fund of hedge funds, as well as tailor-made portfolios dedicated to HNW Clients. He started his career in 1997 as a financial analyst and portfolio manager at Merchiston Management SA. Grégoire holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics of the Econometrics Department of the University of Geneva where he specialized in multi-dimensional statistics giving lectures to BSc. and MSc. students. Alan HOFMEYR Partner & Head of Quantitative Research - Marshall Wace Alan joined Marshall Wace in May 2008 as Head of Quantitative Research and was made a partner of Marshall Wace in December 2011. He joined from Lehman Brothers, where he was head of the Quantitative Portfolio Advisory team, advising quantitative asset man- agers on key elements of the investment process including alpha generation, risk model- ling and portfolio construction. Alan holds an MBA in Finance with Distinction from the London Business School, and a BA Hons in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham.
