Children: Nancy md Ida McDonald and Mrs. John Lee. Jeremiah H. Haile, s/o William Haile & Polly Coggins. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Church of Christ for Jeremiah Haile, 87, who died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ida McDonald, one mile north of Cookeville. Elder Clarence Cook and Elder Foy Wallace of Oklahoma, conducted the services. Afflicted for several years with stomach ailment, Mr. Haile announced after a hearty supper on September 10 that he did not intend to eat again as long as it did not hurt him any more to do without food than it did to eat. He made good this determination and forty•nine days from that date he was buried in a casket selected eight years ago, two days after the death of his wife. After he determined to refuse food Mr. Haile continued, it is reported, to drink water until about 10 days ago, but since then nothing has passed his lips. Dr. L. M. Freeman of Granville, making a non•professional call on Mr. Haile two weeks ago, warned him that he could not live without food, but he repeated his statement that he made at the supper table when he determined to stop eating food. Mr. Haile was buried in the City Cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ida McDonald and two grandchildren.
