The DCCCO hotel will have 54 guestrooms, function rooms, a restaurant, coffee shop, fitness gym, a street-level ground floor parking area and a one of a kind rooftop swimming pool with a relaxing view of the city and its scenery. The groundbreaking ceremony was witnessed by DCCCO’s Board of Directors: Chairperson William E. Ablong, Vice-Chairperson Atty. Vivian O. Maquiling, Mrs. Marina C. Mendoza and Atty. Lowell A. Andaya, Incorporators Dr. Sylvia L. Flores and Mrs. Patria C. Fortich, Chief Executive Officer Flordeliz V. Bokingkito, Managers Mildredo T. Umbac, Teodomero T. Almaida and Felix C. Pino, and Cooperative Secretary Epifania D. Sonjaco. It was also graced with the presence of the contractor, G. Uymatiao Jr. Construction, represented by Engr. Gregorio L. Uymatiao, Jr. and Arch. Gerard L. Uymatiao, the design team, R. Garcia and Associates, represented by Arch. Rainier V. Garcia, the DCCCO Technical Working Group (TWG): Engr. Teodoro R. Torrevillas, Engr. Renato S. Infante, Jr. Mr. Fernando T. Uy, Mrs. Fe P. Ortega, Brgy. Captain Pedro R. Suniega and the officials of Brgy. Poblacion 2, the Traffic Management Office headed by Mr. Gilbert E. Emanating from a humble beginning with minimal initial capitalization from parents and teachers of Dumaguete Cathedral College but with the noble vision of the founders, pioneering members and incorporators, DCCCO was organized in 1968. Now, it is recognized as one of the top cooperatives in the country, garnering local, regional and national awards for its best practices, good governance, transparency, poverty alleviation programs for its members and community service all for the glory of God. Looking back on how this prestigious cooperative came to be, the ceremony turns teary as speakers talk of its history, origin and the challenges it overcame these past 50 years. As it celebrates its golden jubilee, DCCCO Multipurpose Cooperative paves the way to progress not only for its member- owners but for the community and the whole cooperative movement.
