Some elements of the Liturgy with which we are familiar have been suspended in the interests of simplifying the Liturgy to meet our circumstances, and shortening our time in the building. ● Please wear a mask while you are in the building. Hand sanitizer is available at the doors. ● At present, only one Mass is offered each Sunday, so that we do not have to clean the church between each service. Our goal is to add additional services in the fullness of time, and as circumstances allow. ● At the direction of the Bishop, the Holy Communion may not be distributed at this time. Thus, this and all Masses at the Advent are non-communicating, meaning that only the celebrant receives. In receiving Communion, the priest makes an intention to receive on behalf of everyone present. ● The singing of hymns is currently not permitted. ● Collection plates will not be passed. There will be a basket to receive your offering at the entrance and exits of the church. ● For the time being, there is no coffee hour. If you socialize on the sidewalks, please wear masks and maintain appropriate distancing. In the event of our learning that someone at Mass today tests positive for COVID-19 in the next several days, we want to be able to inform you, so that in consultation with your physician, you can take the appropriate steps. If you registered to come to Mass today, we already have your contact information, and will reach out to you if we learn that someone here has tested positive. If you have not registered, please do so by scanning this QR code and entering the information, or by giving your name and contact information to an Usher. We will make any announcement of a positive test on the parish website as well (under the tab “COVID-19”), so please check the website on a regular basis. Note that this information will not include the name of the person who tested positive, which will be kept confidential, but only the Mass which they attended and any other relevant non-personal information. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SERVING AS AN USHER at the 9.30am Sunday Mass, please contact Ray Porter: [email protected] or 617.335.6199. No prior experience is necessary; training will be provided. -- 1 -- Morning Prayer at 9am Officiant. O God, make speed to save us. ✠ People. O Lord, make haste to help us. Officiant. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. People. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Officiant. Praise ye the Lord. People. The Lord’s Name be praised. Jam lucis orto sidere. Officiant. 1. Now that the daylight fills the sky, Officiant. 3. Would keep our inmost We lift our hearts to God on high, conscience pure; That he, in all we do or say, Our souls from folly would secure; Would keep us free from harm to-day: Would bid us check the pride of sense With due and holy abstinence. People. 2. Would guard our hearts and tongues from strife; People. 4. So we, when this new day is gone, From anger’s din would hide our life; And night in turn is drawing on, From all ill sights would turn our eyes, With conscience by the world unstained Would close our ears from vanities: Shall praise his Name for victory gained. All. 5. All laud to God the Father be; All praise, eternal Son, to thee; All glory, as is ever meet, To God the holy Paraclete. Amen. ¶ The people are seated. Psalm 119. VI. Et veniat super me. LET thy loving mercy come also unto me, O LORD, * even thy salvation, according unto thy word. 42 So shall I make answer unto my blasphemers; * for my trust is in thy word. 43 O take not the word of thy truth utterly out of my mouth; * for my hope is in thy judgments. 44 So shall I alway keep thy law; * yea, for ever and ever. 45 And I will walk at liberty; * for I seek thy commandments. 46 I will speak of thy testimonies also, even before kings, * and will not be ashamed. 47 And my delight shall be in thy commandments, * which I have loved. 48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; * and my study shall be in thy statutes. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. -- 2 -- VII. Memor esto verbi tui. O THINK upon thy servant, as concerning thy word, * wherein thou hast caused me to put my trust. 50 The same is my comfort in my trouble; * for thy word hath quickened me. 51 The proud have had me exceedingly in derision; * yet have I not shrinked from thy law. 52 For I remembered thine everlasting judgments, O LORD, * and received comfort. 53 I am horribly afraid, * for the ungodly that forsake thy law. 54 Thy statutes have been my songs, * in the house of my pilgrimage. 55 I have thought upon thy Name, O LORD, in the night season, * and have kept thy law. 56 This I had, * because I kept thy commandments. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. ¶ Then shall follow the Lesson. Benedictus. St. Luke 1. 68. ✠ BLESSED be the Lord God of Israel : for he hath visited, and redeemed his people; And hath raised up a mighty salvation for us: in the house of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets : which have been since the world began; That we should be saved from our enemies : and from the hand of all that hate us; To perform the mercy promised to our forefathers : and to remember his holy covenant; To perform the oath which he sware to our forefather Abraham that he would give us; That we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies : might serve him without fear; In holiness and righteousness before him : all the days of our life. And thou, child, shalt be called the Prophet of the Highest : for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people : for the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God : whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited us; To give light to them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death : and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. ¶ Then shall be said the following Suffrages, the people standing. V. LORD, save thy people, and bless thine heritage. R. Govern them and lift them up for ever. -- 3 -- V. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Officiant. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. People. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray: Almighty and everlasting God, who by the cooperation of the Holy Ghost, didst prepare the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother Mary to become a habitation meet for thy Son: Grant that as we rejoice in her commemoration, we may be delivered by her loving intercession from our present evils and from eternal death. Through the same Christ our Lord.
