Our association has been in continued operation for more than 70 years. We represent the area bounded by Mount Pleasant Avenue (on the west), the CPR tracks on the north, and The Rosedale-Moore Park Ravine on the east and west. There are more than 800 residences in our area, mostly single-family homes that date back to as early as the turn of the 20th century. North Rosedale is a stable community that takes pride in its heritage. Over the years, this association has worked hard to protect vital aspects and features of its community. Among its consistent activities over the years, the NRRA has fought to preserve the ravines that provide borders for its eastern and southern extremities. The natural state of these ravines helps create a unique community and is one of Our most distinctive features. The current NRRA Board of Directors is determined to continue with that position and thus opposes any attempt to build in any part of the ravine. The NRRA fully supports the continuing efforts of the homeowners on Glen Road and Bin-Scarth Road to oppose the application from Mr. Derek Russell to build in an area of the ravine known municipally as 119R Glen Road. I further understand that Mr. Russell purchased this property, which is located within the ravine, more than 10 years ago. Since that time, I am told that neighbors adjacent to Mr. Russell's propel1y have expended significant amounts in legal and other costs in opposition to Mr. Russell's plans. The NRRA supports their continued opposition to this proposal. CARRIED 659 BACKGROUND Pursuant to Ontario Regulation 158, written permission is required from the TRCA to: (a) construct any building or structure or permit any building or structure to be constructed in or on a pond or swamp or in any area susceptible to flooding during a regional storm; (b) place or dump fill or permit fill to be placed or dumped in the areas described in the schedules whether such fill is already located in or upon such area, or brought to or on such area from some other place or places; (c) straighten, change or divert or interfere in any way with the existing channel of a river, creek stream or watercourse.
