Games and Prizes! This year we are trying something new! Due to the circumstances, we will be conducting our annual conference virtually using the PheedLoop platform. Pheedloop is an all-in-one platform for virtual events that has extensive opportunities for both attendees and exhibitors to participate and create an all-inclusive experience in ways that we have not seen before. Attendees are encouraged to partici- pate in Pheedloop’s conference Gamification where you can earn points through visiting vendors, completing session streams, within an- nouncements, and on social media that you can later trade in for awesome prizes! We are giving away over a thousand dollars in gift cards to attendees that participate the most in our conference! In this session, we will break down the components of an attitude in order to completely control our attitude. Actions are essential to productivity in all we do, but our self-talk initiates the action we decide to take. Could it be that we need to re-examine our approach to student mental health? This is a compelling presentation related to the role that our athletic programs can play, not just in building healthy individuals, but as the leading operation in our schools and communities related to the issue. The ASA is a formal, organized inspection of a high school’s athletic facilities, athletic equipment and athletic operations. The 25 different checklists represent current best practice (and therefore, legal standard of care) The standards were established on the basis of referral to various resources, including but not limited to: • NFHS rule books • Published recommendations • Authoritative texts and articles • Case reports of litigation arising from claims of negligence related to sport facility safety • The combined professional experience and expertise of the developers of the inspection checklists I will share the results of the six years worth of audits performed across 8 Denver metro area high schools. Ted Talk: Overview of CHSAA Constitution and Bylaws | Ernie Derrera Ernie Derrera will provide an overview of the Constitution & Bylaws, how changes can be proposed for both and provide insight into CHSAA’s process and timeline. 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM Becoming Unstoppable - Success Secrets from a Four-Time Olympian | Ruben Gonzales, Former Olympian Olympian Ruben Gonzalez’ was an unlikely Olympian. He took up the sport of luge while in college and became the first person to compete in four Winter Olympics in four different decades. His inspiring presentation is sprinkled with humor, motivation and leadership content that deals with simple, yet profound ways each person can deal with the challenges they face daily. It will make you laugh, think and walk away with ideas you can put to use immediately. 11:45 AM - Noon Closing Comments, League Door Prize, and 50/50 Drawing (Remotely) Speaker Bios John Andrew, CAA, Athletic Director, Denver Public Schools John Andrew is the Athletic Director for Denver Public Schools. This is a position he has held for the past two years. Prior to his current position, he was Director of Middle School Athletics, and a Computer Education teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Denver before that. He was the Head Basketball Coach, Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach. John has been honored with the ESPN Community Service Award for hi work in creating Futures Football in partnership with the Denver Broncos and NFL Play60 initiative. He has served on numerous CHSAA committees, is a member of CADA and the NIAAA. He serves on the NFL Task Force for Youth Football. He is the founder of DPS 110, a project that seeks to recognize all the past athletics going back to the start of DPS Athletics in 1903. He is passionate about the middle school prep league that he oversees and has grown the program to have participation numbers over 6,600 kids annually.
