Alianan SUBMITTED July 28, 2019 CHAPTER ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN DURING THE MONTH Indicate your chapter activities undertaken during the month such as Chapter GMM, Professional Development Seminars, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives, ACTIVITY NO. 1 Title of Activity Exhibit Opening : The City Who Had Two Navels Date July 2, 2019 Met Museum, BSP Complex, Malate, Total Attendees 2 Venue Manila Objective of the Activity To provide a venue to showcase Philippine architecture, culture, history, and the arts Type of Activity GMM x Seminar Socio-Civic Others : Activity in line with 4Ps Profession x Professional Professional Organization Professional Product Activity in support of the x Unity x Accountability x Professional Excellence UAP corporate thrust The Metropolitan Museum of Manila held an opening reception for its newest exhibit entitled, “The City Who Had Two Navels.” The exhibit is curated by the Chapters own, Ar. Edson Cabalfin, PhD with Ar. Arlene Lusterio Taking inspiration from the novel, “The Woman Who Had Two Navels,” by National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin, the exhibit displays two “navels” that have moulded our society. The first, how colonialism impacts the formation of the built environment, and second, how the process of neo- liberalization alters the urban landscape. Lectures on the themes of architecture, colonialism and neo-liberalization will also be provided. The exhibit is open from July 2 to October 19, 2019. Objective of the Activity To provide a venue to help enhance the awareness of Architects and undergraduates on the profession. Type of Activity GMM x Seminar Socio-Civic Others: Planning Session Activity in line with 4Ps Profession x Professional Professional Organization Professional Product Activity in support of the x Unity x Accountability x Professional Excellence UAP corporate thrust The CPD Seminar was held by Foundree with UAP Diliman Chapter Member Ar. Edson Cabalfin PhD as the speaker. The seminar focused on inspiring future generations of architects as well as already existing professionals to delve deeper into the anthropology of the profession as well as its many adjacent and alternative practices. Foundree is a learning and development center that aims to educate graduates of architecture as well as practitioners, on the various relevant aspects involved in the architectural profession. The Award for Best Office Architectural Design was given to the Damosa Diamond Tower designed by PDP Architects. UAP Diliman Chapter Fellow Ar. Cathy Saldaña is currently the Managing Director of the company. Objective of the Activity To provide a venue to discuss the incoming Induction Ceremony and FY 2019-2020 Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic x Others: Meeting Professional Activity in line with 4Ps Profession Professional x Professional Organization Product Activity in support of the x Unity x Accountability x Professional Excellence UAP corporate thrust The Executive Committee ‘19 along with past chapter presidents conducted a planning session to discuss the incoming 40th Anniversary and Induction Ceremony of the Chapter. Attendees were: incoming officers; Chapter President Charles Alianan, VP for Operations Gerry Zafra, Jr., Reno de Leon, Joan Therese Marie Villamor, Laurence Marco Salsalida, Japeth Ocray, Dante Del Rosario, John Michael B. dela Cruz and Vittorio Veloso,. Past Chapter Presidents Ma. Angela Estabillo, Ma. Christina Puno and Florencio Sebastian III, and past VP for Operations Ramon Gallardo Jr, and Ma. Bernardine D. Reyes were all present to give advice to the incoming officers. Objective of the Activity To provide a commemorative video for the Chapter’s 40th Anniversary Type of Activity GMM Seminar Socio-Civic x Others : Video Recording Activity in line with 4Ps Profession Professional x Professional Organization Professional Product Activity in support of the x Unity x Accountability x Professional Excellence UAP corporate thrust As part of the preparation for the 40th Anniversary Celebration, the UAP Diliman Chapter’s past presidents had gathered together to create the chapter’s personal take on the recitation of the Architect’s Credo. The group had envisioned to make the presentation more personalized whilst also promoting a more modernized manifestation of the timeless tradition. In commemoration of the chapter’s 40th, this seeks to extend to all the members of the chapter on a more personal level, as well as to the entire architecture community. Joan Villamor attended the first General Membership meeting for the fiscal year 2019. This was the first GMM of the new Chancellor of the College of Fellows, Ar. Gloria Teodoro. The agenda for the event included the Chancellor’s discussion of her plans for the incoming year as well as some team building activities amongst the members.
