FIRST REGULAR SESSION House Concurrent Resolution No. 23 101ST GENERAL ASSEMBLY INTRODUCED BY REPRESENTATIVE SCHROER. 2047H.01I DANA RADEMAN MILLER, Chief Clerk WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicated that the 2016 election for President 2 of the United States was illegitimate by stating, "Our election was hijacked. There is no 3 question" in her Twitter comments to the nation; and 4 5 WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has indicated on numerous occasions that 6 President Donald J. Trump and members of his family likely colluded with Russia to influence 7 the 2016 election; and 8 9 WHEREAS, in January 2017, Senator Tim Kaine appeared on MCNBC's "Morning Joe" 10 where he stated, "What we've got to do is fight in Congress, fight in the courts, fight in the 11 streets, fight online, fight at the ballot box, and now there's the momentum to be able to do this"; 12 and 13 14 WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated in 2017 that violent protest is a 15 "beautiful sight to behold" when speaking of the seizure of the Hong Kong legislature by 16 protestors; and 17 18 WHEREAS, in May 2019, Representative Maxine Waters told a crowd that "thinking 19 about [Muhammad] Ali, even though I've never met him, and with this kind of inspiration I will 20 go and take Trump out tonight"; and 21 22 WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on June 14, 2018, stated "I just don't know 23 why there aren't uprisings all over the country" to bolster her immigration policy debate with the 24 Trump administration; and HCR 23 2 25 26 WHEREAS, in July 2018, Senator Cory Booker demanded a crowd of supporters "go 27 to the Hill today… Please, get up in the face of some congress people"; and 28 29 WHEREAS, on November 17, 2018, Senator Richard Blumenthal told MSNBC host 30 Chris Hayes "the evidence is pretty clear that there was collusion between the Trump campaign 31 and the Russians"; and 32 33 WHEREAS, on January 14, 2020, Nancy Pelosi spread further debunked conspiracy 34 theories and discord by tweeting: "American elections should be decided by the American 35 people, not by the Russian Government. Retweet if you agree"; and 36 37 WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on June 23, 2020, spoke about Republican 38 legislators by claiming "so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually—the murder 39 of George Floyd"; and 40 41 WHEREAS, in June 2020, then-Senator Kamala Harris stated on the Stephen Colbert 42 Show that the protests and riots seen across the country, "they're not gonna stop. They're not 43 gonna stop, and this is a movement, I'm telling you"; and 44 45 WHEREAS, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was rebuked by Attorney General William 46 Barr for endangering FBI agents with her comparison of federal officers defending federal 47 buildings in Portland, Oregon, to "stormtroopers" in July 2020; and 48 49 WHEREAS, in August 2020, Representative Ayanna Pressley stated, on MSNBC's 50 "Morning Joe" that, "you know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there's unrest 51 in our lives"; and 52 HCR 23 3 53 WHEREAS, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has referred to the Senate as a 54 "kangaroo court" whose impeachment votes are illegitimate; and 55 56 WHEREAS, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has issued threats against 57 individual justices of the Supreme Court of the United States in such a virulent manner that on 58 March 5, 2020, Chief Justice John Roberts released a statement that said, "threatening statements 59 of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. 60 All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever 61 quarter"; and 62 63 WHEREAS, Democratic Party leadership in Congress does not censure or otherwise 64 discipline its caucus members for advocating the harassment of supporters of President Donald 65 J. Trump, including an instance where Representative Maxine Waters stated to the press that: 66 "If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, 67 you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they're not 68 welcome anymore, anywhere"; and 69 70 WHEREAS, these actions are clear and convincing evidence of a long-term pattern of 71 disrespect for the rule of law and disdain for the democratic process; and 72 73 WHEREAS, these statements by Democrats in Congress have been unchecked by 74 Democrat leadership, allowing conspiracy theories of Russian interference, Russian collusion, 75 and an "illegitimate" presidential election to grow, leading to a probe into these debunked 76 theories that cost taxpayers millions of dollars: 77 78 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the members of the House of 79 Representatives of the One Hundred First General Assembly, First Regular Session, the Senate 80 concurring therein, hereby call for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader 81 Chuck Schumer to immediately resign their respective positions in the Congress of the United 82 States; and 83 HCR 23 4 84 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of 85 Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for House 86 Speaker Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, and the members of the Missouri 87 Congressional delegation.
